Going back to planets, there is a certain size above which a planet cannot exceed, otherwise fusion reactions would begin occuring in its centre, making it a star. I assume this refers to the planets mass and I would guess elemental mix came into it somewhere. Ive read in a lot of astrology textbooks that if Jupiter were a little more massive it would have become a small star. I dont have any more information apart form that, Ill Google and post more later. Better yet, you can Google and post it as well. hell, lets all Google.

Why dont you lok up a TEXT BOOK. Mathematical formulas exist for EVERYTHING IN PHYSICS. The fact you claim they dont exist only underlines the fact you have nowhere near the grasp of basic physics you seem to think you have. In fact, if you have no grasp of mathemtics then you have absolutely no clue about physics. Ill just say that again. You have NO CLUE about physics. That was no clue. About physics. No clue about physics. Of course formulas exist for magnets. They link the strength of the magnet to the separation of said magnets. The waves you feel the need to lecture us on? They can all be described in terms of formulae. Thats how physicists describe things. With maths. Not with badly drawn pictures and 'i know im right, just disregard everything because I have a new crackpot theory'. What next week? Pincho does chemistry with pictures of barney and the teletubbies? Why do you think I moved this thread to pseudoscience?
-
Mathematics is the language of physics. It is so intrinsically important that underlines absolutely everything in just about every science. You have posted NONE. just pretty pictures that prove absolutely nothing. This thread is in pseudoscience for a reason.
-
Thread split - pinch's crazy gravity thing moved to pseudoscience where it belongs.

I hope you mean as in the 'free' kind, as killer whales!

By 'your innacuracies', do you mean the ACCEPTED SCIENTIFIC FACT that MrL has been taught at one of the best universities in the world in this exact field of science? That would be the scientific facts that are based on repeatable experiments (as opposed to the complete lack of any experimental evidence you gave), reliable results (of which you gave none), accepted theory (your isn't) and also the fact that by your little 'truth is more important than science' rant, you have displayed absolutely no inclination that you know the principles upon which science operates. Which is why this thread is in pseudoscience. That would improper science. Or 'flat-out wrong' science, as I like to call it. MrL - call of duty rocks.
-
Is this based on anything? Maths, philosophy, astrophysics, cosmology? It seems you've just randomly created a mechanism for gravity without any citations whatsoever, any reason that the current model is incorrect, any supporting evidence or even a solitary scientific principle. All of which explian why this will now be thrown into the pseudoscience forum.

Question on the molecular level..
greg1917 replied to Hades's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
In this specific example hydrogen bonds between H2O molecules will be broken due to the strain of the rock impact on the ice, not chemical bonds between hydrogen and oxygen. There would be absolutely no hydrogen or oxygen produced. -
Mass varies as density. A material with a higher density will have a higher mass than the same volume of a less dense material. Thus density affects gravity and is an important consideration.

Mine's an anglified clan name originating from those wierd highland folk who liked nothing better than to bash each others head is with axes and rocks. http://www.scottish-heirloom.com/henderson_clan/scottish_clans_history.html

pH calculations are a very routine part of chemistry and having to actually test everything for its pH value would be vastly inefficient and completely pointless.

He was never going to get that groups votes in the first place so he may as well appeal to the right wing gay haters as much as he can. If your going to do something, its best to do it through fully.

Quantum Electrodynamics proves the failure of materialism
greg1917 replied to marcobiagini's topic in Speculations
And your point would be? If theres a massive warehouse with only an apple lying in the middle of the floor, does that mean the apple doesnt exist because the vast majority of the space inside the warehouse is empty? Just because it happens to be 99.99 whatever percent, doesnt mean you can round to zero. The visible universe is 99.99... % empty as well. That doesnt mean stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae and gas clouds just dont exist. the point your making isnt so much as flawed, its flat out wrong. -
I know theyre separate, but thats a very common argument used by militants and an issue which many sympathise with.

Im sorry but that is so ridiculous and flat out wrong it would be funny if the guy wasnt a murderous psychopath. Capturing Bin laden will do absolutely NOTHING apart from win bush a second term, or whoever happens to be president at the time. islamic militants dont rally behind the guy because he's a cute face on tv, they rally behind him because he summarises their hatred of Isrealis butchering children in gaza and bulldozing homes. If he dies there will probably be a wave of retaliatory suicide attacks and a huge increase in sympathy for his cause in the middle east. In the west we have this trait of assuming everything has a heirarchy of subordinates and commanders and generals and leaders. Why should these people be anything like that organised? It doesnt take a lot of manpower to build a bomb vest, get on a bus and press a switch, orders dont arrive from Commander Bin Laden every time a bomb goes off and not every islamic militant even regards Bin Laden as the saviour we think they do. this isnt a pitched battle in a set theatre with specific objectives, yet it seems to be being fought as such. And in response to the original post, i feel a lot less safer now than I did before.

Ed84c: There is no such thing as a beaker of protons. Im not sure if its possible to have a solitary proton floating in a beaker of water anyway. pH measures the hydronium ion concentration of water. people will commonly write H+ ions when referring to these - this is purely for simplicity. When an acid dissolves in water, it dissociates into a proton and its conjugate base. The proton, however, does not exist as a proton. it combines with a water molecule to make a hydroxonium (or hydronium depending on the textbook) ion, H3O+. Not a lone proton. Say acetic acid (vinegar). CH3COOH + H20 ----> H30+ + CH3C00- I hope this is clear enough for you, schools tell pupils H+ ions float about in water so they dont have to mention big words. Im not trying to insult your intelligence here - they dont go into detail about acid - base reactions until 5th year (in Scotland anyway, no idea about US).

When it says mostly carbon, surely there are lots of other elements mixed in with it? Carbon isnt the only element created from stars. And the current high price for diamonds is only caused by their being rare. if we were able to mine diamonds on the scale you're suggesting, any attempt to sell them would instantly see their value completely disappear because now supply has gone through the roof and demand has dropped like a stone.
-
No its not, if you read MrL's post you'd see that was a wrong assumption. The kilogram and the metre are the two SI units in question here. Density is NOT measured using water as 1 as a reference. In liquid water, hydrogen bonds link each water molecule to 3.4 other molecules. In ice, hydrogen bonds link each molecule to 4 other molecules. The molecular packing is different.

Well they dont seem to mind their body parts coming into contact with jews (who im sure they think are a tad worse than pigs) so why would this deter them? Its not like they pay much attention to actual islamic teachings.

Once the results are shown to be repeatable in other labs, the discovery will be verified and adopted in academia. Those names may or may not be used when (or indeed if) the findings are verified. Unununium, element 111, has not been renamed, why would it be?
