Ive got a bottle of liquor on my shelf with two lizards in it. Theyve been cut open from throat to between their hind legs are their lizard entrails floating in it. Its chinese, and apparently is good for the bones. It also tastes like ass. Moral of the story - drink brand liquor.

Sorry? Bismuth (Bi, z = 83) is behind polonium, Astatine, Radon and the entire actinide series so I dont see how it can be the 'heaviest element'. Whut? Correct, the density of water is 1 kg per cubic decimetre (litre) and ice has a density of less than 1. this is due primarily to hydrogen bonding in water molecules. Google for more.

No, thats internal parts of machines.

Kids are told in school that there is a pH range of 1-14 purely for the reason that they wont encounter anything outside this range in school, and its reasonably simple for their minds to grasp. By the time you actually move onto to pH calculations, conjugate bases and all that monkey business, it will become evident the pH range can go below 0 and above 14. pH doesnt stand for anything, its a mathematical operation involving the concentration of hydronium ions. pH = -log[H30] Thus for a very high hydronium ion concentration, say for example 20M, the pH will be -1.3.

There were similar instances in India, where elephants were getting drunk on local rice beer and tramling crops. Ill search for the link for that, it was surreal.

The question is not whether a reaction can be reversed - many reactions are reversible and reach a state of equilibrium. And francium would explode in theory, yes. You might encounter a problem in the fact that it doesnt occur naturally though, and when it is created it decays almost instantly. You're thinking of caesium.

Any equilibrium with more moles of gas on the right.

as did I. start afresh. zulu

The answer is not subatomic blackholes because thats beyond preposterous. Orbitting electrons can be characterised as waves, leading to orbittal shapes and associated regions of probability. Not black holes. They have nothing whatsoever to do with this thread. nothing.

That doesnt explain anything, much less gravity or the strong or weak nuclear force. Its also completely unfounded, flat out wrong and ridiculous.

I presume your talking about nuclear binding energy there, which Tom has already stated has an effect. Atoms also 'contain' energy in terms of their electron clouds and their relative velocity. He cited a proven mathematical piece of evidence. You didnt. Unless you have some crazy equations physicists have yet to derive.

true, I suppose if Xenon can form compounds its not too far fetched to suppose krypton can do the same. kryptonite would specifically refer to a species which had one less oxygen atom than kryptonate. Whether either even could exist is still uncertain.

Alien Evolution Paths

Seeing as present cosmological theories estimate the age of the earth to 4 billion years old, thats peanuts. And seeing as many planets could have been around longer, that could be smaller peanuts. or even fractions of peanuts. Hell, maybe even not nuts at all. -
Indeed. Krpton is a real element (symbol Kr) and for further information, read Lance's link.

They made it up. Theyre tabloids. it sells newspapers. For instance, a few years ago a british tabloid called the Sunday Sport had a story about a 6 foot chick (thats baby chicken, not really attractive lady) that ate a zoo keeper. There was a photo of a zoo keeper and an obviously enlarged picture of small cute fluffy chick. NOT REAL. even in that absurd 'skulls on mars' rubbish, the pictures look theyve been taken by a three year old who just got MS paint.

Alien Evolution Paths

The problem there is what qualifies as a 'long time'? In terms of the point where it is commonly theorised that life began, and the present, may be a very small fraction of the actual planets total existence from formation to present. -
If you condense krypton then freeze it, youll get solid krytpon. Combine it with oxygen and in theory you will get kryptonite. No idea if its actually green or if its even possible. is krypton not one of those joke elements that only exists for a fraction of a second?
