Profile Information

  • Location
    Bucharest, Romania
  • Interests
I have a general interest in science, and I love chemistry and exciting chemical reactions. My science teacher allowed me to throw a small piece of sodium into a bucket of water during my birthday at school.
On the other hand, i also like playing creative building video games, like minecraft or garry's mod. I also play Kerbal Space Program, a game where you launch spacecraft onto the different planets, except it has real orbital mechanics, and is devilishly tricky.
I also have a electronic soldering kit that my mom got me while we where in china. I made a bomb detonator on it once, except that I dont have any explosives, and it was just a really fancy flashlight.
  • College Major/Degree
    Still in middle school.
  • Favorite Area of Science
    Chemistry
  • Biography
I am currently a middle school student, but I do aspire to become a chemist one day.

  1. I do have a very nice "Yo mama" joke: Yo mama so fat, her atoms fuse! Of course, her atoms fuse because her mass is so big, nuclear fusion happens, just like in the sun. Apparently because I am in middle school, non of my friends get this sadly, and I would have to explain to them.
  2. Wow, this is very amazing, think of all of the different uses this could be used for. For example, workers in high risk environments could control their equipment using their brain, so there will be a faster response time and less margin of error (think fighter jet pilots). Also, this could make for some very nice control interfaces with surgeons operating remote equipment (for example remote surgery done using robotic implements controlled by the surgeon halfway around the world). Of course, this telepathic linking of brains could also lead to a Demarchist society, as seen in the book Alastair Reynolds wrote.
  3. Isn't ethanol grain alcohol, and methanol wood alcohol? I read about them in a book about the Prohibition before, i think. (Apparently, when they banned alcohol in the United States during 1920 and 1933, and during that time some people got so desperate for alcohol and drank methanol, which ruined their liver and health). Also, do you know how much of a temperature change would be induced in that reaction? I would need something that is fairly measurable on electric thermometers of suspicious quality that are available in my school.
  4. Hello there, it is my first day on these forums today. I am planning a science fair project to do, (a real science lab, with variables and data collection, not just a "demonstration"). I am basically measuring the cold produced by different endothermic reactions, such as adding salt on ice for example. It would be nice if the forum commenters could list a few common endothermic reactions that I would be able to produce using common or household materials, or chemicals commonly avalable inside a labortory. Please note that I am merely 13 years old, so please list chemicals by their names rather then symbols. Thank you very much, and if this is in the wrong section, i will apologise in advance. This may seem a bit like homework help, but i thought it belongs more in the chemistry section.
