Does the many worlds interpretation require an observer? Or is that only the copenhagen interpretation?
-
Be prepared tho', they don't take kindly to newbs. Make sure to post in the right forum and preface your post with "I'm a stupid insignificant human being" Just kidding.

Thanks for the link Sayo! I'm still looking for ideas though. Keep spouting!

I am so building a rail gun. Anyone got a link for some schematics? My school sucks in a couple of ways, one of them is that they don't want me to go too far ahead of the rest of my class. So I couldn't just up and learn calc, because according to their logic, I would be wasting time because I'm gonna learn it anyway. Kinda twisted.
-
I'm not sure what a railgun is, but all the same I doubt it would go over too well with the teacher I have to convince of the project's validity. @yourdadonapogostick: I'm currently (officially) at the level of Algebra 1, so I'm not really qualified to take calc just yet. even though I have dabbled.

Then your theory doesn't make sense, because I checked the current stats right before and right after I posted and each time it said only 51 guests and 6 users.

1. Tiny school 2. I get picked on for being smart, by the dumb kids( 3. 2 months of science all year, only 2 4. NO AP CLASSES AT MY SCHOOL 5. Stupid-teachers/projects/homework 6. Math is ridiculously easy and yet everyone else is still getting 'c's

I don't believe thats true, Sayo. I tested this several times, I clicked on the General link, then went back and refreshed. Each time the viewer count was up by one and one only. Do bots register as guests?

I am not feeling challenged by my current workload at school, so I decided to do an independent project. I am in 9th grade and my options are somewhat limited. "Project" probably isn't the best word it's really and independent study. I'm looking for specific subjects not just broad topics like "Study CHemistry!!!!" My current idea is to study evolution, specifically the debate of Group vs. Individual selection. I am interested in everything though, so spout some ideas please!

This may be off topic at this point in the thread, but I just have to say that my best friend from my childhood until the present was raised by gay parents. His father's sperm was implanted into his mother, he had two gay fathers and two gay mothers. He is a perfectly normal and very nice boy who is now going to college to study Quantum Physics. His mother died when he was 14, but he quickly recovered from the loss and got high marks at Boston Latin school. As you may know, gay marriage was recently made legal in Massachusetts, and a few months ago his fathers got married after being together for 25 years. It was truly a special moment.

It doesn't seem to be resetting itself when someone stops viewing.

DarkBasic=Bleeeeeecgggghhh! Maybe its ok for beginners but I have deep-rooted prejudices against it. Halo 2 was almost surely made with Direct X, which you probably already have on your computer. It was also probably written using C++. I myself use OpenGL which is better for small scale projects. It doesn't have quite the graphical ability of Direct X, but it's easier to learn. As to manipulating 3d environments, don't attempt it 'til you have a solid grounding in C or C++. A BASIC language with 3d capabilities is a good place to start. Don't be surprised when your games don't look like Halo 2 though, 'cause it is the cutting edge in graphics.

A similar variation of this one was posted earlier, but I like it better this way. A man walks into a bar and asks the barman for his finest, single malt whiskey. The barman gives him a shot of it, and the guy downs it one gulp. This happens again a few times until another guy asks "Man, thats three shots of the best single malt whiskey, its expensive and hard to find. Why are you in such a hurry to drink it?" The man replies, "You'd be in a hurry too if you had what I have." "what do you have?" And the man replies, "Fifty cents."

Yea, my sister dated a 15 year old (he turned 16 while they were dating) when she was 17-18. It was kinda funny because she would always be driving him places and she had a really good relationship with his mom, so they would have long discussions about what was best for him. Now she's off to college and he and I are friends. He's also very nice.

Yea, 32 is a number most people associate with 4 or 8, but not 5. It took me about 30 secs I think.
-
32, 81, 64, 25... Whats the next number? This should be really easy for most people here. I'm only posting it because it hasn't been solved at my school by anybody besides me and I wanted to gauge how hard it actually is. My school is pretty mathematically and scientifically deficient. Please post how long it took you.

Most Americans say amoeba, as, I think, do most brits. "Ameba" is a nationally non-specific spelling.
-
Yes I would be offended if you "lit up a fag." And I have never met anyone under the age of fifty who says "fanny." I think what we should be concerned about is not spelling but idiomatic phrases that make translation damn near impossible. I heard today that there is a German expression which literally translated means "the children and the bowling pin" but actually has something to do with sinking ships.

The answer is "a". Time slows down in gravitational fields and at high velocities. I haven't studied these theories extensively, but I do know that the have to correct the clocks in GPS satellites, because they lag behind earth clocks.

Yes, but America is the least sensible country in the world.
