  1. I support the judges decision on this, but not the action as a result of the decision. The buttons, while not likely to affect the outcome of the trial, were a contempt of court. For instance if the family members had shouted out the victims name during the trial, they would have been removed from court. The badge were unnecessary and intended to illicit something from the courtroom (whatever that effect was is in itself moot) which places the family in contempt of court. Only the Judge was in a position to make a decision on the affect of the badges on the court, and obviously the decision was either that buttons had a prejudicial effect or that an example had to be made that the judicial system was not open to influence of any kind. Personally, I would take great offence at any act designed to influence a courts decision. The law is reason, free from passion. The Judges decision was to protect the law at the expense of the trial. The system of justice should not be manipulated at any level, certainly not overtly. Perhaps I hold the law above the rights of individual expression, and it could be argued that one was more important than the other. However, to my mind the implementation of the law often causes offence and this is just an example of the self righteous ignoring the law to their own detriment.
  2. Interesting thoughts. You are still misusing the term evolution, limiting the scope in one direction and extending it to technology at the same time. Other than that, it's a good discussion point.
  3. We trained the Afghanistan troops as well. The Middle East is too volatile a place to make firm predictions, but you can extrapolate from past events.
  4. My picks would be: - Tears for Fears "Everybody wants to rule the world" Billy Joel "We Didn't Start the Fire" Monty Python "I love Chinese" Sex Pistols "My Way" Duran Duran "A View to a Kill" Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" Althoug, I quite like the idea of Bush listening to "A View to a Kill" to get into that James Bond frame of mind before forming a whole new "road to peace" process for the middle east.
  5. Google it.
  6. Or, kill the shepard and dance on his zombie bones. Either way is good. Neither helps nameta9 in any way.
  7. To be fair, neither of those are in any way harmful.
  8. I think it's just a simple cheap coffin, to show the mans humility even in death.
  9. Well, the stock market as a force in Economics. So all of them really. I'm a bit tired, but what I meant was that if the US dollars had intrinsic value that placed it above other currency then all stock markets would trade in the dollar. Although, to be honest I was just talking about the stock exchange not the stock market. No, they are the same. They are a promise to pay the bearer on demand the amount owed. Like an all purpose government cheque. As you can't promise to pay what you don't have, issuing bills for funds that don't exist will simply mean the treasury will be bankrupt. Yes, Chancellor of the Exchequer ( Secretary of the Treasury ) has the job of balancing the books. Making sure that all the promisory notes have cash assets to back them up. If you take the economic model down to the basics, which we really shouldn't, how long do you think you can go through life writing IOU's in exchange for goods and services? How long if it's known you don't have enough money to pay off the IOU's? That's why we can't just keep printing money
  10. The exchange rate makes all the difference. The US $ depreciates in value, which means it's worth less each month. Currency transfers that exisit (outside of the movies) are done from a weak currency to a stronger one. I think your getting confused here. If you have $100 in a savings account, there is no store of cash with your name on it but a credit on your account. There isn't even 1% of US $ that exist in the physical sense, it's all on paper and tied into assets (such as the house your sitting in). It's the 3rd largest amount of physical denomination, but it's not the currency of the stock exchange which is where most money is stored. I don't understand what you mean by currency going down and staying, but if you just produced cash for a laugh where are you suggesting you introduce it? Would you give it out, buy products or invest? Until you use money, it does nothing.
  11. Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Sorry. Do carry on.
  12. Which evolutionary theory are we discussing here?
  13. You know what, as usual I'm simply going to have to ignore your trolling. I really don't understand why it is you feel the need to troll throughout the forum, but I don't intend to expend the effort justifying three words in a sentence that you have taken issue with. Just leave it at my original 'I disagree', and get on with your life.
  14. It's a very different thing to what you ascribed it to be, but that really isn't my fault. You can't simply redefine what's said and expect your context to overrule the original. Nope. I clarified my reference, the only thing it differs from is your interpretation. I suspect you are leading yourself round in semantic circles, as is your idiom.
  15. Seems to work for the US. Or are we not talking about foreign occupations and religious impostions?
  16. 'Accidentally' stumbled on it? Seriously, internet censorship is impossible. Forget about it.
  17. Yes, in the UK we had a state IQ test administered in the 1980's. I think they stopped shortly after starting it, but I'm on file, as it were. It cropped up when I was 15 > 16, as my teachers had the score on my records. Sadly, after you are 25 it's not just lazyness that decreases the IQ. On the plus side you have a credit card and access to alchohol.
  18. The world is shrinking daily, and democracy is becoming the last bastion of nationalism. As the last vestiges of institutional racism subside, the only thing preventing the world village from emerging on the political scene will be democracy. In Europe the European Union is breaking down individual country's nationalism and building a democratic multi nation state. Unfortunately America is politically isolated and the transition may well turn out to be violent and destructive to both the government and the economy.
