I've met the Queen, Queen Mother, Prince Philip and Prince Charles all of which have/had met Mr Bush. So 2 links I guess.

Character assassination is hardly going to work. It's Israel and Palestine; one side is taught in school that the other eats babies. I think that the reputations are low already, and it’s unlikely someone can tap into the social substructure to spread rumours without being found out quite quickly. It’s not like moving surreptitiously into Bradford, really. Unless you have a third new meaning for the word, of course.

I think you have a differing concept of Communism to the mainstream. A stateless state is not possible to achieve unless the world were one system. However, classless society was there and functioning. It may have become dysfunctional in the later years when they succumbed to tourism. Besides, it's like classing America as Communist because an authoritarian party is in control.

Creating martyrs is no way to construct peace. There is no quick win to peace in the middle east, it's a waste of energy's looking for one. It's an untenable position for the UN (or anyone) to take, to support assassination yet admonish the Palestinian attacks. One of the routes is slow education of the people that might in turn lead to acceptance. The schools at the moment are prone to teaching religion and with it the bigotry and hate of the opposition. A good step would be to ban religion in schools, unless properly regulated. Perhaps an apology from the British parliament and a visible commitment to the peace process could help. A united front behind the American efforts towards peace. Anything but murder.

Funny end to the film though. The enterprise's slowly breaking up as the impuse drive accelerates away from the body of the ship. Cut to Kirk looking a bit sheepish, shrugging and Spock with his head in his hands crying quietly.

Got a URL? It's not googley.

Yes, I gave the bad reputation points to you first, because I don't like the insult in your post. No, I don't think PM would be a good idea. I would prefer to discuss on a forum. No, I don't think there was a typing mistake in your post 23. No, I don't particualy care if your working or not as time can be extended between posts. I actually think if you took some time to engage yourself before posting, we might actually make headway. It's painfully obvious you don't consider what your saying before you say it, and you barely read posts before you reply. A semblance of grammar and spelling would encourage me to think you were remotley trying to understand the thread.
-
In all possible ways, grammar, spelling, punctuation, lucidity, context and thought we are not clear here. I'm serious about that, it's hard to make any sense of your last posts. This is not about the size of my ears. This is not about me reading the entire thread, which I did 6 months before you first joined. This is not about ‘context’ an, insult is an insult wherever it’s uttered. This is, in this thread, about you issuing bad reputation to me for no good reason. Bad reputation for 'you failed to deride the other posters in that thread'. You depressing little man.
-
I disappoint you? I'm not sure what you mean my by chums, but by coincidence it is actually triggered by dealing with the results of blasé insults from people such as yourself. I actually volunteer at this organisation: - http://www.samaritans.org Where I listen at great length to people who have been worn down by little insulting comments like yours all through their lives. Your insulting and just plain wrong. Funny, you could have just said ‘sorry’, but you automatically ignored that and just went for giving me bad rep points then calling me infantile and accuse me of fantasising. Did you ever consider that, perhaps, I might actually be insulted by your 'joke'? I suppose I'm asking for it, but what is it that you think was a 'typo'? Is there even an answer to that?
-
So, your saying it wasn't insulting spam then? A convincing argument. Oh and 'Freakishish' is all yours. It's a brand new word. Well done.
-
Sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer. What you said:- ........was derogatory. I took that as an insult to people with large ears. As I'm not longer in school trying to fit in when people throw insults, I see no reason not to pull you up on it. I'm very aware that comments like that are made up and thrown around without much thought. I was suprised that you had dug out a year old thread just to make that pathetic joke. To infer I don't understand contect and then actually give me negative reptuation is one thing, but to suggest I 'grow up' is yet another. In the grown up world, if you insult people you should expect them to pull you up on it. In the grown up world, you are responsible for what you do and what you say. In the grown up world, you would apologise or discuss. I have no idea what world you are in.
-
Hmmmm. As I stated in the thread:- ………..is a simple insult is just laughable. I also am struggling to understand what you mean by ‘million others’. Is their more than one person using your logon to scienceforums? All of which does nothing to answer the point of the post in this thread, which was the use of reputation as a tool for childish retribution. You had no reason to issue negative reputation other than to protect your little ego. It’s really that simple.
-
ROLF, YT2095 gave me negative reputation because I objected to insults about people with larger than average ears: - http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?p=48707#post48707 I gave him negative rep for not apologising or showing any sympathy, which I guess would be around -10 points from me. YT2095 decided to respond rather childishly by giving me negative reputation of around -60 for this reason: - Show of hands the people who think an inability to handle criticism warrants the ability to respond with negative reputation? Is it simple a ‘you bad rep me and I’ll bad rep you’ system? I mean, if YT2095 thinks insulting people with appearances he thinks are cosmetically freakish is ok, what would he consider a ‘bad’ post?
-
Only mods and admins can do that, but usually you can guess.

Ah, sorry. From the context I read it, you had dug up a thread that was twelve months old with the specific notion of mocking people with large ears by comparing them to a Volkswagen Beetle to emphasise how freakish these people appear. In your context it was a reference to colloquial terms used to deride people with large ears in the 1960's, drawn from the fact that certain haircuts from that time period actually emphasis parts of the human aspect. I see how that fit’s in with the thread now. Boy genius with poor haircut = of course if you had large ears also, you’d look like a Volkswagen beetle with the doors open, from behind. Jesus, that’s some funny shit right there.

I'd make sure nobody else had supernatural powers, past present or future, then break the wand.

Sorry, a person who has large ears looks like a Volkswagen Beetle to you? As someone with large ears, I've heard the comparison made before. Just out of interest, in what way do you think protruding ears look like a Beetle? Why is it a funny comment to make?

Ha, I have a few emails like that. It gets worse with more government groups forwarding mail. I assume they are standards, because I didn't think a government dept can be a PLC. Well, there's a sort of elitism with cantonese. It's the launguage of choice for the ruling classes in feudal Japan, Mandarin being the laungage used by the serfs. So technically cantonese should be used by scholars when used as reference, rather than Manderin. But as the whole use of the term Kung Fu is a mistranslation and misuse of a descriptive phrase it rather depends on which definition westerners like to use. More or less the term Kung Fu is an Americanism nowadays, but I wouldn't argue the point with a Martial Art's instructor much unless they are aware of the origins, a meathead from the west end might just get offended. If it's a chinese national, it might be an interesting conversation.

We can now change it from 'new world record' to 'the first world record'. Apparently nobody had bothered setting a record before.

But they have pictures of aliens on them, that's worth adding the extra $1000. PC Gamer built a 64 bit AMD athon with top of the range spec's (1 gig ram etc), minus monitor, for just over £1500. Alienware will sell you the same spec for only £2,722.48.

3 copies of 'Mostly Harmless'. Why would people keep buying me it? WHY? Asimov, Arthur C Clarke and Philip K Dick are the staple. Ray Bradbury, for his general ‘I thought of that first, you hackned si fi whores’ and his kick-starting the genre (Star Trek to Twilight Zone). I vote John Wyndham, Day of the Triffids. I still can't read it without wondering if it's set in the future or past (as in present day when it was written).

Feh, specifics? Gong Fu is the Cantonese version of the Chinese (Kuo-shu or wushu etc) as the western alphabet wasn't in use it was a phonetic western version created by scholars in China around the 1900's. There arn't too many good websites, as they are mostly websites from the schools preaching their own versions of whatever. http://www.fongswingchun.com/history.html http://www.wahlum.com/wah_lum_history.htm See? Stupid, that there internet is.

Snot me.

Supposition, not fact. It's not very likely that one person is responsible. There are a thousand tales to account for the emergence. Not least of with was the mighty Monkey. Kuo-shu, not Kung Fu or wushu. As hard as it is to directly translate Chinese, it's harder still to guess which word was mistranslated as Kung Fu. It could have been the name of a goat, for all that we can reasonably presume. So, you agree then. One's for fighting, one is not. And was the US karate champion for quite a few years. I'd class that as 'a bit good' at karate. The Chuckster has studied a great number of martial arts, he even spend a week at the Dojo I was at in Ripon (Yambushi, UK).I'm not a Norris biography expert, but as I've studied in the same place as the man I'm going to trust my judgement on what he's good at. Wing Chun has the fighting, then the wooden dummy, stick and finally the butterfly knives. Ng Mui is based on the movements of the snake and crane, so is more druken master than Bruce Lee ( graceful movements and sudden strikes). I'd suggest the first is less likely to get you laughed at in a fight and easy to learn (although less effective).
