  1. I'm never quite sure if the reasoning is avoidance of damage of the fossil or because the process of petrification of bone to form the fossil itself would take thousands of years. I think the assumption is that the fossil may be considerably older than the direct testing methods would suggest (hence creationists picking up on it). Mind you, I only really know archeological methods rather than paleontogical.
  2. Appeals to history are logical fallacys. Besides which, your counterpoint is nothing but rationalisation. I honestly don't see the point in amending the constitution for flag burning. It seems like nothing but publicity for a cause, and that cause currently seems to be the creation of a legacy for Randy "Duke" Cunningham. The restriction of civil liberties in relation of burning certain fabrics serves no tangible purpose other than the restriction of political ideas. I understand it will be passed anyway, based on the political commentary, regardless of the impacts on freedom of speech. Pah, a more interesting debate would be what people would like to see in the constitution.
  3. Yeah, ok, but not scary dinosaurs Actually, no I didn't. I thought that dating fossils was somewhat pointless as it only showed the age of the sediment that replaced the bone. I thought the dating techniques were used on the surrounding sedimentary rock, and not on the fossil itself.
  4. Yeah, it's great that the film crosses into the comic world and back so smoothly. [hide]Even in the comics they have the same beard sometimes, hatred of crime and the same outlooks on life. They both want criminals dead, and both respect Batman but think he's got a naive outlook. It made the plot twist that much better, because it works in the comic universe as well. Henri Ducart was in the first Batman comic I read, so it was as if the plot twist was written in for me![/hide] But the ballroom scene was just great. It had tension, plot twists, humor, excitement and was just classic use of Bruce Wayne, showing how the man was now just a mask for the Batman.
  5. Er, all the studio has said is that they are thinking about Mark Hamill for the Joker based on his voice work in the Cartoons. Harvey Dent may also appear, and be turned into two face, but that's not confirmed. It's Frank Millers* Batman Year one they say that they are basing the films on, there are no plans to redo the original films. *Sin City etc
  6. It's so you can express yourself clearly, eloquently and succinctly. The finer honed your language skills are, the more persuasive you become. To a certain degree it doesn't matter how much you learn if you are not able to adequately express yourself or your ideas. Incorrect grammar can ruin a lucid point, such as your improper use of 'whatsoever' in your previous post. More than that, communication is the most important tool you will ever use.
  7. Yeah, Spiderman was a better film. But Batman Returns was still a great film, and the acting was far better than Spiderman. I don't know, but Ra's Al Ghul is probably not dead and he might make a reapperance. Clayface would be good if they could get the effects right, but I'm not sure they could. Yes, both Ra's Al Ghul and Henri Ducard are in the comics. Ra's Al Ghul is pretty much the same in the Comics, but has a much wider power base. Ra was behind the Contagion storyline that happened a few years back, it decimated Gotham prior to the Earthquake saga. Henri Ducard is a Frenchman who tracks and breaks terrorist cells, he taught Bruce Wayne his detective skills. Both Ducat and Ra's Al Ghul know Bruce Wayne is Batman, and are the diametric opposite of Batman. http://www.unstable.com/whoswho/rasalghu.htm http://www.rasalghul.co.uk/database/characters_details.asp?id=26

  9. Read more. Go get an Umberto Eco and Micuel De Cervantes 'Don Quixote'. Anything that plays with language.
  10. Because in Wing Chun the base of the hand contains the power. If the fist is vertical, the wrist lines up with bottom fingers of the fist and so the power from the shoulder is transferred through the lower fingers. It's just how the body is postioned to transfer the power. The positioning also means swapping from a punch to a palm strike is very simple, by twisting the arm and opening the fist. It's quite difficult to describe, but the simple way is for you to look at how Bruce Lee punches. Bruce was a Wing Chun master before he moved on, and you can see how he transferres the power from his shoulder to his arm and into the hand. The vertical fist: - Notice the straight line from the shoulder to the lower part of the fist. That's the power transfer.

Ah, thanks, I'll just rent it then. I'd best not add another short game to the collection.

They had them in the film, in Gotham, they just didn't use them. How is the game? I almost got it, but I've not heard any reviews. Funny story*. A Martial Arts convention was held in Norway a few years back with some of the worlds leading exponents all in one room. Near the door this German ninjitsu expert was using a method of out staring the other masters as they entered' date=' to gain superiority and therefore respect in the room. Almost to a man the masters thought he was coming onto them, and had only broke eye contact to avoid explaining that they were not gay. Apart from the one master that [i']was [/i]gay, which lead to an embarrassing conversation and the German expert suddenly realizing what he'd been doing (presumably for the past number of years) and leaving rapidly with a red face. Ha. *Not actually funny.
  13. Interesting. Are rasmussen reports widely used in the US? I've never heard of an autodialer poll before' date=' I'm not sure how well it would be taken in the UK. You are about 60 years too late. I think your point might have more weight if France had anything approaching a fair judicial system. The deplorable conditions in the French prison system have been berated for almost a century. I know European news is not popular over in the US, but it's well recognised that the French courts are treating the ex Guantanamo suspects with less consideration than the US showed. Perhaps external politics hold as little interest to the American media as external opinions do. I'm not aware that the French ever criticised the US over Guantanamo, I certainly cannot find any direct quotes or statements to that effect. I suspect the Washington Post has exaggerated the French opinion, but if there is any evidence to the contrary it would certainly be interesting. If only americans were less fat and stoopid, ahahaha. O_o Hey look, bigotry isn't funny.
  14. Egad! Burn down the schools! In reality, there is no one theory of evolution. Of the many that exist, some have been disproven. That's the beauty of the scientific community, it's open to change based on new information or informed debate. Unfortunately, creationists think that their version of informed debate (ill-informed ranting) is a route to undermining sound theory.
  15. So. That'll be a bot then O_o
  16. Good luck with that. I'm sure it's a winning idea.
  17. You mean a bot. It's a fake person, like an AI character, used for keeping the IRC channel open. Google IRC bot.
  18. I'm ringing the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Logic.
  19. True. It's actually quite a crappy game, when you come down to it.
  20. No. Well, yes. It matters for a few reasons: - 1) You have presented the copyrighted property of a company that has expressly asked that the answer not be given. It would be polite to respect that wish. 2) If the answer is given, then the Admins may get a request to delete the thread from the institute when the thread propagates. 3) Providing the answer will undermine the effectiveness of the test for people who google for answers during quizzes. 4) Because the question is copyrighted material, posting it without the thread citing reference is in breach of the forum rules. My post showing the source protects the site. I have no idea. It's possible, I suppose. It's not my request, you would have to take it up with the International High IQ society. I'm guessing it's a preventative measure rather than an infallible system. I don't really mind either way, I'm just mentioning it.
  21. The http://www.highiqsociety.com has asked that this question not be answered on forums. It negates it as an online test for applicants. If you are really stuck, go to http://www.furbles.co.uk/ and use the software to create a population.
  22. Because he's taking the piss. Good game tho.
  23. Hey. If AzurePhoenix can claim birds are dinosaurs based on the descent from life in the Cretaceous Period, I can certainly claim sharks are direct descendents from the Carboniferous Period . Besides which, Lamnoid sharks evolved during the Cretaceous period and they are the same genus today. Shortfin Mako, a Lamnoid shark: - Raarrrggg, chomp chomp. Not actually a dinosaur, but a species that existed in the same timeframe. I think that abeefaria was asking about timelines rather than details.
