I'd like to know more about the number of charge-discharge cycles. The have eliminated at least one reason for <1200 charge cycles, but don't claim much more than >1200. All other things being equal, doubling the number of charge cycles reduces life cycle costs by about half; in other words, if they can be recharged 2400 times, they would be replaced half as often as Li-ion. I'll be looking for an announcement they will be manufactured, e.g., at the gigafactory.

tested to more than 1200 charge-discharge cycles. works to -20C. 3x energy density of lithium-ion batteries alkali metal anode can be lithium, sodium or potassium solid glass electrolyte earth friendly safe Sounds too good. I hope they can be manufactured at low cost; if so they appear to be game changers.

Claims of fact require some evidence; whereas, things you believe do not. No responses? There are 75 replies, including one of mine, in which I claim humans are robots. -
For me, consciousness is another of our senses, similar to sight, hearing, touch, etc., except it senses our thoughts.

Also, AI Jeopardy, chess and go playing systems are better Jeopardy, chess and go players than the best humans. I've heard that an AI cancer diagnosing program is better at diagnosing cancer than the best physician. It is unclear what limits on building AI there are, if any.

Spitzer Space Telescope (SST) scientists will try to analyze the atmosphere on these planets, and if they find O2 it may indicate photosynthesis. Trip to one of these planets at Pioneer 10 speed would take about 750,000 years.

I suppose a combination of electromagnetics and electrostatics could be used to make a motor.

Wishing reality to be different is futile. I'm not sure what part of the Matrix you fear; in any case, reality is rarely the same as fiction. Although, sometimes reality is more weird than fiction. I am not convinced, but some people think our minds may be uploaded to computer memory. Subsequently, a computer might simulate us.

Electric motors are electromagnetic or electrostatic; there are no other possibilities. IMO a steam engine run by heating water with electricity is still a heat engine, not an electric motor.

A neural net can implement a Turing machine; thus, a neural net can compute anything a Turing machine can compute. They are equivalent. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1410.5401.pdf -

We are robots with a program to procreate, just like all other living things. Our opposable thumbs, walking upright, brain, etc. are used to achieve our prime directive, "procreate". History records who is successful. -
To convince people, the battle may be necessary. However, a robot may be able to copy its mind for upload into another or additional bodies. This being the case, an archive can be maintained to assure any robot can, again, come alive. Given this possibility, the death of a robot is different than death of a person.

If I knew the answer, I'd have given a better reply. See Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning

Don't repeat Ben Franklin's experiment.

Just like many of my relatives. I'm not happy with Pence as the alternative, but don't feel as endangered by him as Trump, even though my feelings about Christian fundamentalists are harsh.

Some AI experts believe AI will be able to do anything a human can do, and perhaps more. Some limits we might bound, for example how many words a person knows, but other things are unknown, for example what is the most beautiful sculpture possible.I'm still unsure what you want.

There are a variety of stages up to 5 years. See: http://www.speech-language-therapy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34:ages&catid=11:admin&Itemid=117

At the moment, AI is limited to specific applications, for example driving a car, diagnosing disease, and playing Go. Each application must be developed to be sensitive to human concerns. There may be some similarity among these applications, but there will certainly be differences. Does your full discussion mean explore the nuances of each application in regard to its sensitivity to human concerns? That would be difficult, since only the developers would know such details. Otherwise, please explain what you mean by a full discussion.

Ninety-seven tech companies are filing a legal brief opposed to Trump's immigration EO. Rich and powerful men now oppose him on this issue and perhaps others. I seems likely he will cut off his own political head.

The only age-learning cutoff of which I am aware is about age 3 for learning language. Almost every field of study requires math, so study math through integral and differential calculus, to get the basics. Additional math may be necessary, depending on the other things you study. I also recommend one philosophy class and a logic class. Then study what you wish.

There is no light at the end of the tunnel; the vice president wants similar things. However, Trump scares me being so close to the nuclear button. And, he seems to be picking a fight with Iran. Another war would be tragic.
-
Have the people turned away in the first few days, and sent back to those seven countries come back into the US, or is the EO still being enforced?

If Trump orders immigration officers to follow his EO, instead of the court order, how would the court enforce their ruling?
