Lack of water will limit fossil fuel power plants. Will their proponents continue to build them as people who buy no power die from lack of water?

I have struggled for a lifetime with people who do not understand cause and effect. Sometimes it seems to be specific to a particular subject area, for example geometry. My wife, a special education teacher, has learned that people do have specific areas of missing intelligence, for example dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyspepsia. I suspect these and many other dysfunctional areas of intelligence affect rational thought, and that that a portion of the population cannot be rational in every way. I also believe that education that teaches rational thought can help some children, I am concerned that some children will miss that opportunity because their parents have a dysfunction, and that schools will not be able to overcome parental influences even when the child is not inherently dysfunctional.

iNow did a very good follow up on my statement. Israel is desalinating water for itself. Others in the area depend on traditional, limited sources of water, which may make survival difficult for many. Desperate people may resort to violence.

It seems likely that Climate Change will make things worse between Israel and its foes.

Nailing me to a tree would be a worthless gesture for a ton of work, but I understand. The indigenous people and immigrants will do what they do, regardless of my insignificant opinion.

I believe the true culprits are long dead. Middle East hatred and strife has endured for millennium. Whoever it was may have had a vital interest driving them, in which case circumstances are to blame. In any case, the only way for it to stop is for everyone to agree to put down their arms and declare peace. Then, everyone must be kind and courteous to everyone else. For this miracle to occur, everyone must forgive, for a single troubled heart might break a fragile peace. Given time, a fragile peace will grow into a respectful peace.

There are various implementations of interpreters, including ones that compile source code into p-code that later interpret p-code, and ones that interpret source code directly. And, one could say that a computer interprets machine code. Consequently, some statements in this thread are correct for some kinds of interpreters and not correct for others. Moreover, some statements about compilers also apply to interpreters that compile to p-code. In my opinion, neither A, B, C, or D are totally correct and accurate. I don't know what the instructor taught and, therefore, cannot answer this question.

So what happens after two virtual photons are created spontaneously? Do they later annihilate together?

It seems to me that conversion to green energy and cleaner engines have a chance to limit climate change to 3C. The linear alternator engine might be put to use in new cars within a couple of years, and that the potential efficiency increase for automobiles should be a huge; about like taking 15% of cars off the road if all cars were converted. Moreover, with 3D printers, a good small business in the near future might be to replace engines in old cars with linear alternator engines and electric motors. Cars with thin kind of engine also made from light weight materials should make 100+ mpg automobiles common. Texas recently decided that wind+solar and 3 coal plants would be better than 11 coal fired power plants, in spite of a governor who tried to fast track the 11 coal power plants. Power companies are also selecting less expensive solar to replace coal power plants in some cases. China knows quite well about pollution of many kinds, and they are working to go green. India is too. The question is will it be fast enough?

Could some of it be photons spontaneously created by dark energy?

ASCII and EBCDIC are 8-bit character encoding systems.

My computer is always on, I have about 1.2M work done and 3740 average. SETI is a long shot, but with better and better radio telescopes the odds increase. Nonetheless, I think the odds of a hi tech civilization besides us in the Milky Way are long. The universe is a dangerous place, and Earth has already experiences several mass extinctions. It's only a matter of time before another occurs, and we are fragile and vulnerable. There's a good chance we will not become space travelers before the next extinction, and I all high tech civilizations face the same difficulties.

I believe they should be mandatory to teach life skills in school
EdEarl replied to Marshalscienceguy's topic in Politics
The goals of schools are bizarre in many cases. The main focus for schools today is to do enough with kids to insure federal funding isn't withdrawn. They have stopped most physical education, which means some kids have excess energy and act out in class, but the schools punish these kids by making them stay in detention, while their classmates go out for recess. -

Indeed. If you get these things mixed up, they never let you visit the Waldorf Astoria again. No wonder the Waldorf didn't respond to my request for a room. -

My wife is a K-5 special-ed teacher. In her school there are a few students in life skills class, but they teach rather basic things such as how to eat and go to the bathroom. You definitely need to qualify your intentions as Ophiolite said. -
Bonic Manager lets you specify how many CPUs, and what percent of CPUs will be used for processing its applications.

I hopeif this will have an affect on the Tea Party and other Christian Republicans who oppose Climate Change.

Thank you.
