111 Hertz Gateway, Brainwaves, Solfeggio Notes
EdEarl replied to Davidjayjordan's topic in Speculations
Please explain the following: "scientific reasons why I theorise or speculate from the mathematics of sound." Afterward, I'm sure I'll have additional questions, because I don't understand any of what you said. -
I think a meaningful life can lead to challenges and contentment, but not necessarily happiness.

Masturbation found good for health; and porn is good for masturbation.

Some civil and architectural engineers work on large construction projects, such as bridges, power plants, and buildings.

In the valence shell of hydrogen are one electron and one missing. Thus it binds as H2O or as CH4.

Whatever things happen 1500 years from now are less urgent than things about to happen this century, and it is important to consider unintended consequences of things about to happen this century before things 1500 years from now. For example, 4C or 6F is enough increase in temperature to melt glaciers and ice packs faster than they have melted since 1900. At the beginning of that century global temperatures began to increase. Since then, records show many glaciers have lost huge amounts ice each year, more have not grown, and a few have grown. Time lapse photography has captured a fraction of the loss, and the images are alarming. The loss of glaciers in the Himalayan range are melting and are likely to be gone within this century; whereupon, many great Asian rivers will be dry except during the rainy season, and lush jungle climate will be dryer. Great rice fields may be converted to wheat and other grains. Water added to the ocean will raise the level of the ocean about 7 meters, and many coastal human habitats will be abandoned, which may result in mass starvation of perhaps 1/4 of humanity. The way governments handle the change of corps from rice to other grains will determine how many people starve. It seems plausible that governments could keep stores of grain and use weather prediction, agricultural education and data, agribusiness, and consulting services to manage the transition. Without management the cycle may include rice crop failure and starvation. The loss of eternal rivers may reduce world food amounts significantly for several years, but some things can be done to offset losses. Planning and infrastructure construction can build mountain farm terraces where temperature increases occur or will occur. A business, TerCo, might be established to construct terraces and sell mountain terraced farm land in 1 to 640 acre lots. As the climate warms, temperatures on mountain sides will increase, making areas currently too cold for farming warmer. Terracing, as in China and elsewhere, can make it economical. Robotic earth moving equipment will terrace sun facing mountain sides with a handful of expert humans to run the business. It is hard to know how long TerCo will be needed, when it will be needed, or how quickly the industry will grow and wane. I'm reasonably sure it will be needed to assure adequate food worldwide. As a last resort farms can be floated around the equator on the oceans.

I do not have his book, can you quote his statement?

While a few of these seem to be a stretch to have 13 on the list for 2013, the list includes some important milestones. One of my favorites is pumping ocean water using wave power through a reverse osmosis filter to make fresh water; I hope it is an economic and technical success. If so, perhaps wave power can be used to pump water to make electricity.

Enterprise Engineering Technology does not mean the spaceship Enterprise, but enterprise as in business enterprise.

It depends on what you do with a physics degree. One of the hot fields now is nanotechnology, which is a cross between physics and biology. The physicists work to understand how tiny things work and work together, and biologists study the things that have already been made by nature with nanotechnology. If you intend to do cosmology, astronomy, or quantum mechanics, then biology may not be very important.

Planet likely to warm min of 4C by 2100, 2x dangerous levels

The ones you tax will be automobiles and coal & gas fired power plants. On another note, China is building a 1000 MW PV farm. -

Everyone can help. Billions of little bits add up to big bits. Save electricity, drive less, get an Elio or other greener mode of transportation, take the bus or train, put solar hot water on your house, turn the thermostat down, etc. Lobby your congressman and senator for more green energy solutions, do not vote for anyone who votes against green energy, If you live in a city wherein Solar City operates, have them install solar cells on your house Motivate your neighbors, too. -
And, sometimes religion is used to justify bad acts, such as the inquisition and Jonestown. But, this thread isn't about admiring or admonishing religion.

AFAIK no tornado as ever put anything into space. Most things moved by a tornado fly into the air a few hundred feet; although, some smaller things are propelled thousands of feet. Considering that a small tornado expends more power than required to launch a vehicle into space, it seems they are not a good model for propulsion.

I have not intended to be obtuse. Newton lived about 200 years before Einstein; thus, Einstein started with Newton's laws of motion and gravity, and added scientific knowledge. Newton's laws are a subset of Einstein's. I believe we agree on the facts. I apologize for using the word nuance. Newton lived about 200 years before Einstein. Thus, Einstein started with Newton's laws and increased scientific knowledge. Einstein's theory is a superset of Newton's. I think we agree on the facts. I apologize for confusing the issue by using the word nuance.
-
Your ordering seems odd to me, since Newton had been dead for about 200 years before Einstein's theory, but both worked on the laws of motion and gravity. Einstein's theory is more complete.
-
Are you quibbling over the word nuance? Newton's equations still work at non relativistic speeds. Einstein discovered E=mc2 as a result of his work, but it does not contradict Newton. It starts nuclear physics, which is in addition to all Newton discovered. Newton discovered calculus, which Einstein used. What is there to defend?
-
Einstein did not change the laws of physics, he merely discovered nuances that Newton had not discovered. Newton's formulas still work for non relativistic situations.
-
I agree.

Build one, put it on an air table, or run it in vacuum. It will not work as you expect, unless I misunderstand your intent. An offset rotating weight will cause vibration.

I am also disabled, but worked long enough to provide for myself, and my wife still works.

One example of a person who might need food stamps is a quadriplegic, another is an elderly person. Not everyone can work, for example my father-in-law who is 99 years old.

How did life started on earth???

Read the panspermia link. Scientists have found a 500,000 year old bacteria living in the arctic, which is similar to conditions on a comet.
