Maybe I did choose an incorrect word? but being alarmed, concerned, worried or scared..."to me all brings about much the same feeling"- within, to me. Being terrified I would say is different but close to panic hence the title of my page "scary-stuff" but indeed not sleepless nights but I guess if I feel there is a geniune threat to mankind it doe's scare the hell out of me to think we may all be doomed? but not in a panic sense... hopefully scientists... maybe will prolong life indefinately now some may find that scary too...us.2u

Hi Molotov yes you are correct I goofed but I did apologise to Herme 3 & thanked him for the correction...us.2u

I beg to differ...are you sayng in every circumstance beyond our control we should not worry? How about if someone pulls an unexpected weapon on us & instantly we know we may be facing death....would be worried about our survival? I believe the majority of us would! I also believe we explore space in the distant hope to prolong our survival, so hopefully before a cosmic event may wipe us out I hope man worries enough to outlive a castrophe, & that we do worry for the sake of our children & their generations to come.....us.2u

I do not have any conclusions about people I do not know How can I? That would be assumptious; I am unassuming especially to every indiviuals view of life; as that is pertinent to them & none of my business; indeed if you feel there was any referal to you, I'm sorry you view my post that way I stated I find your views difficult to take in. In turn I related to how I feel about a mass threat & my own feelings of how much I like my life, & your own quote in answer to my question "Don't you find that scary?" where you replied "Not really" by that answer I did believe your outlook differed from mine. But I do respect your intelligence I hope you do not find this offensive it's not meant to be... but you do remind me of Cmdr Spock from star-trek who has no emotion; just sheer logic...& oh my you've got that...us.2u

I've got reference as to water on othere planets & moons Syd I'll post them to you when I've found them proberly tomorrow but I think there all frozen...us.2u

Herme 3 I believe you are correct, I do apologise for misunderstanding thank-you for your enlightenment. You know maybe from your earlier post something did happen like that that wiped out our Dinos; I guess I should have considered your thoughts but personally I still think a metorite was the cause... but one day you might be proven correct & me wrong, that's what makes this site full of interest, we all have thoughts on what was, is, & yet to come....us.2u

What I mean by a neighboring star is a star within 10 light years or less the star in question was 50,000 light years away I quoted an "explosion of a neighboring star would proberly wipe out our whole galaxy" not that the explosion was not in our Galaxy so if everyone were to read poist correctly this explanation would not be neccassary....us.2u

I disagree Sayonara you left me with a personal opinion which I shared with you I definately was not drawing any conclusions; in all honesty I can't see any thing conclusive in my posts only that you appear not to be alarmed by the extinction of life but just quote "Humans are supposed to die when things kill them" You maintain you do not find that scary? I maintain it sure as hell scares me yes I do have an opinion... not conclusion, by your return post & IMHO I indeed find your response to what might happen to the extinction of life surprising not conclusive...us.2u

In answer to your post Herme 3 I think it was proberly a meteorite I think an explosion of a neighboring star would proberly wipe out our whole galaxy...us.2u

Well my feelings differ; I find any threat scary to the whole of mankind, as we know it! Basically like you I realise none of us are eternal, but fortunately like a lot of other people I enjoy my own existence & value that immesely! I find your views extremely difficult to take in; a man of your calibre dosen't appear to be alarmed by extra-terristial threats to terrestial life including your very own?...Of course if Armegeddon happens we are powerless but I do appreciate life.... everybodys my own, & yours without it don't you think the existance of anything else would be fruitless?...us.2u
-
Point taken Sayonara maybe the next one will wipe us all out including you! now don't you find that scary!

I truly believe there are white holes; I'm not sure about Hermes theory, but I think he might be leaning somewhere towards an undiscovered phenomenoa & maybe not too far away in his therories so I ask.... is it plausible? can you all work this one out if condemning this theory state your logic. If theory is poss' that would be awesomely amazing; so let's put this one to the board in an unbias way,I for one like your theory Hermes looking forward to logical answers & theories...us.2u

In 1974 the Arecibo radio telescope transmitted a coded message towards the M13 star-cluster. M13 contains 300,000 stars & lies near the edge of our Galaxy, 21,000 light years away. The message consisted of 1,679 bits of info. If intelligent beings recieve the code, they should be able to re-arrange it into 73 lines of 23 bits. In this form it shows a series of shapes, including the "Arecibo-Dish", our solar system. & a human, if life forms do work it out, a return message would take about 48,000- years to get here from M13. .....To me that seems such a pointless excercise! ...us.2u

Maybe Syntax 252 even in our own oceans life exist at extremely cold tempratures according to various references I have....it makes me wonder if life is older than our own planet....us.2u

What I do wonder if the sea on Mars was ever active & not frozen? or pherhaps one day maybe it will be active especially with the rate of technological resources we have to-day...maybe Earth scientists can make Mars habitable & hospitable but if past intelligent life did ever exist on Mars would that put the religious factor out of the window; or invite a new meaning to religon? all points of view greatly appreciated...us.2u

Well looking at logic I would presume the Eath to be 24,000 in circumference, approx our planets rotation speed is 1.000 m.p.h. approx; taking 24 hrs to complete a rotation.

http://www.spacedaily.com/ more on the sea of Mars I hope this helps......us.2u

The way I see this; is really everyone is agreeing with each other; but getting too nit- picky concentrate on Ophiolites post... forgive the pun but weigh up all his maths & realise there is no argument here, but different angles on the way one views
-
I think I'm slowly understanding Ophiolite; but the clothes in a spinner mixed with the rinse water I really thought that in my humble mind a prime example of centrifugal force; maybe this is incorrect or debateable? but I guess my simple example of my own kind of physics or how I percieved it is basically inadequate? I was trying syntax 252; definately not trying to mislead, sorry about that I guess better left to the physics guys....us.2u (Thanks Ophiolite)

I always understood centrifugal force is a fact; look at a spin cycle from a washing machine & the small amount of mass that bears, well I think our planet reacts in a very similar way, whether you label this centripetal or centritfugal I think the end result is much the same...us,.2u without it I don't think any of us would have our feet on the ground...us.2u
