  1. Thank-you Coquina for your quick response & the info; at least to us it seems the Mexican meteorite was responsible...I think that just about sums it up...us.2u
  2. IMHO I truly believe going back to the KT boundary; that the meteorite that crashed in Mexico at that time can be the one & only true castrophic event that wiped the poor Dinos' out I really can't see any other plausible explanation. I think something like that would've caused global flooding, global volcanos not to mention evidence of Iridium; are most of you with me on this one? or does anyone have different plausible explanations?....I've heard other stories but I feel most of these would've wiped out life completely being unable to give our planet any rebirth of life it will be so interesting for all your views on this one.....us.2u
  3. Hope this brings Hubble up to date http://hubblesite.org/
  4. You are likely to be correct Kartness; but for us all to be sure they're a long time coming, if they ever appear to us, that's presuming they exist at all? & have any desire to communicate with us...
  5. Well if their interplanetary spacecraft are like Btitish Rail no wonder they haven't reached us.....
  6. I really fail to see Ophiolite was being rude just a bit of light hearted banter between us astronomers & sciencetists & saying welcome Demosthenes. Well ecoli & Ophiolite you both offer a great deal & make great learning. Nice to hear from you Demosthenes I believe everything in this solar system doe's move with each other in a relative fashion, & we all have a relative interest in astronomy. I haven't heard of you before Demosthenes but I see you've made a lot of posts I'm looking forward to your next one & yes you are right everything in our system has a relativity......
  7. The universe was...still is & proberly always will be, because I believe even nothing is something & those kind of physics are beyond us all: as clever as man may be if inelligence was responsible for creation; then that intelligence is far superior to ours, so if we were created... then God is a Divine super-intelligent being or super intelligent alien; if we became about by mysterious chemical reactions accidently or otherwise, I guess we'll never know, but however I became... I'm grateful, & love to explore out-there...
  8. I agree with you 5614 pherhaps all of us around the world interested in science should donate...sorry to hear about your brekkie try snow flakes....
  9. Can't the Esa,Isa & any other space agency all join together & share the expenses? surely that would be a finacial saviour for the States & a miracle for future science exploration......
  10. Just in case you don't read all Martins post read the last one & click on the link.....very-interesting....
  11. If you look at Martins post "CONDITIONS ON TITAN" hopefully JohnHarlin that should make you the wiser. ...
  12. Well done ed84c that was good effort; through this week I'll try to unravel these enigmas unless anyone else can enlighten us how about Ophiolite if anyone can it's you let's not hope we're in the dark for too long.....
  13. And not to forget our opposites doe's any one know of white holes?
  14. Titan has a cold dense atmosphere (-240d f). Higher temperatures mean that the particles in an atmosphere move more quickly. So that they are more easily able to escape into space. This has happened with Mercury, where the daytime heat can rise to at least 700d f. Any atmosphere which may have existed has long been driven off. With Titan, the situation is different, the atmospheric particles are less agitated and have been unable to leak away. Even so Titan represents something of a border line case. It has been calculated if a temperature were raised by as little as 100d f naturally or artificially the atmosphere would escape.
  15. If Titan were to be heated by a similar greenhouse effect or by atificial means by us the problem would be we would destroy Titans atmosphere I do have that info if the temperateure were raised only by 100 degrees farenheit the atmosphere on Titan would escape....
  16. Liquid methane rain feed river channels, lakes, streams and springs on the surface of Saturns' moon, Titan, images from the Huygen probe show. Scientists have also recovered much data from Huygen that had been thought lost, due to a communications failure. On 14 January, the spacecraft plunged through the moons atmosphere, sending scientific data- including stunning images-back to ground control as teams outlined new results at a press conference in Paris, France.
  17. I was looking on the beebs science page (Ceefaax 154) I think they manantain that their river beds are flowing from metane rainfall...
  18. Well I don't think it's cheap mars-bars (joking) really I think it's a case of seek & let's see what we find......
  19. Well in 2007 let's all be enthralled by what the Keplar telescope relays to us in info. Sorry about the mammoth sentance earlier Dave forgot about the punctuatation, anyway never mind about that, I will be studying Nasa's & ESA'S plans up to the year 2014 this week; just a quick insight... in 2014 ESA'S Rosseta space probe is scheduled to encounter the comet 67p/churyumov-Gerasimenko & put a small lander on it's surface.
  20. Please forgive me if I have misinterpertated what Ophiolte is saying but I believe he was not stating NASA are looking for Eart like clones but planets that caqn support life as we know it like you suggested I think Ophiolite was maintaining planets like Jupiter could not possibly support life I think the size of an extremely large planet like Jupiter cannot be Earth like in it's gravity or gases but I do stand to be corrected if I am incorrect...
  21. Thanks Sysco for that link that was very interesting I'm looking forward for NASA's new discoveries....have you looked at the above link Dave also I'll look around for some more info & if lucky relay back cheers...P.S. has anyone got any info on NASA's new ION engines?...us.2u
  22. Looking further into the future spacecraft will use new engines one of these they have already worked on ,the ion engine has already been tested on unmanned missions. The U.S.A. intend to send Astronauts back to the moon in the year 2020 & then to Mars...
  23. Outer planets were thought to be too cold & dark to host life but by finding creatures at the bottom of our own oceans here on Earth we now realise life is capable of existing in these conditions so by sending out probes we can analyze images & send back soil samples & also search for radio signals still searching for ETI also thank-you Ophiolite for explaining how space telescopes work I for one look forward to the launching of NASA's Kepler telescope to be launched in 2007....
  24. Thank-you 5614 I've just relayed NASA'S intentions; how they can detect planetary resources I do not know but I'm sure NASA will be happy to explain...
  25. In 2007 NASA will launch a spacecraft named Kepler which will search for extra- solar planets it's telescope can scan 100,000 stars every 15 minutes if a planet passes in front of the star it's brightness will dip & kepler will detect it. Scores of extra-solar planets have been found already, but are gas giants like Jupiter.Kepler will be able to detect small Earth like planets....
