  1. I saw it a few nights ago. Its ice crystals in the upper atomosphere. Funny thing is that an old tale says that if you count the stars inside the ring it will tell you how many days before the next storm. I counted one and it rained the next day. Cool.... Bettina Edit: Dang I hope this person isnt just a spammer...... Anyway don't go to his link.

    Wikipedia

Thanks everyone. Thanks IMM for the links too. One trick a classmate taught me was to use - and + in my search to eliminate wasted time...for example searching google for the planet saturn I would use: saturn -.com +.org....This way I get the org and the more reliable sites. FYI....they questioned Wiki as being unreliable, biased, and unscientific. I've ignored there comments and continue using it. Bettina

Ok..thanks Now...what would you consider a good web source for physics information. Someplace that is respected. Bettina

    Wikipedia

On another forum, I was challenged that Wiki is not a good source for material which I think it is. Does anyone else feel this way or is there a better place. Bettina
  5. http://www.metaresearch.org/home.asp What do you make of it. Is it a reputable place? Bettina
  6. I'm watching and listening but his accent makes it hard to get every word...and the cameraman should take lessons. I'm still listening... Bettina
  7. I read word for word, drawing pictures in my mind as I go. If I don't understand something, I won't go further unless I am in a cram session. I will then go to Wiki for an explanation, then move forward again. If its a novel, and I really like the book, I will read word for word but stop before the last chapter. Then I will re-read it again from the beginning only this time all the way to the end. Bettina
  8. What a great thread:-) I too had trouble, but believe it or not Klaynos's fish tank really got me to understand it, then topped off by 5614. I have done this experiment several times but always failed to "get it"....I got it now. Bettina
  9. Hmmm....No-one made you a moderator so please don't tell me what I can and cannot post. When a mod tells me to stop...I will stop but until then, I will post my opinion. I am also a little unclear which side your on, but CNN is good enough for me as a news source as the BBC seems good enough for you. The following link describes the protest against america and israel in the millions. I see Islam and religion in general for what it is, but Islam is by far the worst. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4384264.stm Bettina
  10. If you were dealing with North Korea, I would agree completely with you, but I am very distrustful of a religiously fanatical backed country like Iran. "Hypothetical" to Iran can easily turn real if "allah" wishes. Bettina
  11. My "clue" is what I see, read, and hear in the news. Same place you would get your information. My "clues" are beheadings, death to America, death to Israel, thousands and thousands chanting in the streets, women beaten and stoned in the streets, etc etc.....I could go on and on, and I can name some weirdo clerics in charge of a weirdo religion if you wish... A religion full of hate and dominance is all I see. Look at some Islamic web sites and tell me I don't have a clue. Edit...Sorry for losing my kool.....it is nothing personal, I'm just afraid of what I see coming. Edit2: I wonder if any Islamics are on here ready to kill me for what I just said. Bettina
  12. This is what scares me. A country run by religious fanatics that publicly states that Israel and anything else that doesn't embrace islam should be destroyed....and.....that same country seeking to build nuclear weapons. (Don't tell me there not going to) It seems to me that Iran would use that weapon on Israel, in the name of allah, with the sheer hope that other muslim nations will join in. I believe they are all willing to become martyrs for this cause. I hate war, and mostly myself, for thinking this but an uncivilized country like Iran must be stopped from going nuclear no matter what the cost or method. No matter what. Bettina
  13. I found this article. http://facstaff.uww.edu/mccreadd/ It says the moon illusion is a summer event. I saw the moon tonight, but was a little late and it was already at about 20 degrees. However, it looked white, and small, very unlike a summer moon. I guess I'll have to wait till summer. I really wanted to try the tube thing. I'm a believer, but I just wanted to see for myself. Bettina
  14. I'm ready to do what you asked, but I have yet to see a large moon on the horizon like I do in the summer.. But I'm still waiting......and I have the paper tube. Bettina
  15. My first memory was someone (I don't know who) was trying to give me something from a spoon. I was being held and I couldn't move. I remember hitting it somehow, but it came at me again. I was crying but whatever it was got into my mouth. I have never forgotten that. Bettina
  16. When I was little, I thought the face on the moon was god. Always looking, sometimes even in the daytime. Sometimes on the other side of the earth, checking others out. Unfortunately, "God does not play dice" ......or leave messages. Bettina
