This is going to sound corny but I know of nothing else... 1. The love my dad and I share for each other. 2. Freedom.....because its not allowed in some countries. Bettina

I haven't given up yet. All I know is the summer moon is H U G E when its low in the sky, and it never happens in the winter. I keep checking, but its cooler out now and its small all the time. This may take awhile to convince me but I got my camera ready. Bettina

In the many books I've read, I recall that they created a "mini big bang" in an accelerator that pretty much acted like scientists have theorized the real one may have been like. However, I find your post really interesting and look forward to the comments of others. I can't find anything on the internet that shares your views though, but I like what you said. Bettina

From Wikipedia: Though publicly most ID advocates state that their focus is on detecting evidence of design in nature, without regard to who or what the designer might be. And we know who that "designer" is implied to be....There are many debates but "ID" to me means "Intellegent Designer", and for that it fails. Bettina

Just my guess... I would think if it is truly equidistant, gravity being uniform, and all things perfect, without outside interference, then it should remain stable. However, at the first slight movement, one part will get closer and you better run. Bettina

I disagree. ID implies a designer, which implies a creator, which implies a god, and should all be mixed in the same bottle. Bettina
-
No disrespect, but since you asked.....I think I have trouble with anyone who wishes to put Creation (ID) and Evolution in the same bottle...and your admission of finding biblical support for evolution "theory" leads me to suspect you are much more a creationist. I have not read your book or know you, so I won't comment further, but I am very interested in what others think about your proposal. Bettina

Lets see......she's stealing music and suing the people who caught her. Yeah.....this will go over big. I get my music from Musicmatch and Itunes and think 99 cents is a fair price for the songs I want. Bettina

I could give you advice, but I need to know who broke up with who, and why. Bettina

Herme3....do you believe in ghosts? Bettina

Although [Tycho?] came on a little strong with the word "arrogant jerk" he has a point. Telling everyone how intellegent you are can, and will, turn some people off.... Not the way to get help. And I see your using Muldermans avitar.... Although its accepted, you should post your own. I always associate the avitar with the person. As far as help......you came to the right place. I like wikipedia... Bettina

Well, I agree on the slow exposure time since they all have the same pattern of movement. Also, I notice the left orange lights are on the front of the wall, while the others are behind. So my guess is they are candles of some type because of the smoke around them, smeared due to slow exposure, and a double exposure since the tree is not smeared. Just my guess. Bettina

It didn't say how old he is now. Bettina

Thanks Martin. You are correct in every detail. I've been finishing up a book called "Stephen Hawkings Universe" by David Filkin. In it he speaks of a young physicist, Andrei Linde, who thought that because quantum mechanics allows particles to pop in out of nothing, the universe may have done the same. A tiny vacuum of energy that popped in from nothing, but failed to pop back out and instead, it expanded rapidly becoming our universe. There could be many of these universes.....not just our own. He speculates we are just one bubble next to many. However.......sigh.........It can't be proven so it isn't science. I love this kind of stuff, but I'm not interested in the universe as much as I am as to what caused it.....thus my dilema...and I wouldn't put this anywhere near mythology. To me, our universe is nothing special and not unique. Thanks for the explanations. You have a nice way with words. Bettina

I have to test this myself. I'm waiting for a good night. ALso, nobody has answered as to why in the cold winters, the moon "looks" the same size no matter where it is, but not in the summer. Bettina

Occam's razor, or with me its "keep it simple stupid", doesn't always work. The police enter a room a few moments after a gunshot. A man is holding a smoking gun and a dead person is lying on the floor. The simplest assumption is that one man shot the other. The real story is that the dead man committed suicide in front of his friend and falls to the floor. The gun lands at the other persons feet. The friend picked up the gun out of reflex just as the police came in. Also, to say that another universe doesn't exist because we can't see it is something I don't buy. Because our universe came into existence is self proof that it could happen. So, with that, it could happen in other parts of the void too, even many universes. I may be wrong, but I'm very open minded. Bettina

Ok, I looked up Roche Lobe, but it doesn't explain it enough except its a region around each star. I think I can picture this region, but the other star collapsed. How does its region change. Shouldn't it be smaller? Bettina
-
I'm finishing up a book and in it a physicist Yakov Zeldovitch was explaining how a binary star system oribited each other. He went on to say that if one star collapsed into a black hole the remaining star would continue to circle around what appeared to be empty space. Then he goes on to say that the gravity of the black hole would begin violently stripping matter away from the companion star. I understand the process of a star collapsing into a black hole, but what I don't understand is why the black hole has more gravitational pull than it had when it was a star. I also understand how a black hole keeps pulling in matter and getting more powerful, but where did the binary star get the extra matter. Bettina

I can't believe "Battlestar Galactica (New)" is at 0% while the horrible X-Files got more than 1 vote. What is wrong with you people. BG is the best show on television. Bettina And....since dad likes it too, he bought the first season DVD set

I'm not convinced yet. I will check what you guys say the next time I see a "large" moon. One more thing......I only see a large moon in the warm, humid, summer months and not in the winter. During the winter months, the moon is always the same size....up or on the horizon. I'm no gonna throw out the magnification yet... Bettina

I didn't say it. My dad did as he mentioned the hippy years, the 70's, burning the flag, what they did to the vietnam veterans, etc. He also has a big dislike for flag burners or those muslims who dislike us. He also doesn't like our president. What attitude do you think I should have? Should I pledge or not? Should I show respect for my country or not? Should I display my flag or not? Bettina
