I've been reading this thread right along, and I'm surprised at how many of you don't respect the country you live in. What a sad mindset that is, but as for me, I make sure our flag flys in front of my house every day and I'm proud and thankful for the soldiers who died for it. You can write in all your petty little arguments about why you don't like this country, but I'll take being a "moron" like john5746 any day, and I do make the silent pledge in school. I may not believe in god, but I believe in me. My dad says "you don't like it here, then leave". (sorry) Bettina

Erasing the Bang and Hole singularities
Bettina replied to Martin's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
So the science fiction writers, Gene Rodenberry especially, may not have been that far out. Geez, I wonder whats next. Thanks for the link. Bettina -
It wasn't that kind of shaky....However, I will wear white, but the rest of you better wear something of bullet proof material. He's my dad, but he doesn't know how to operate a machine gun very well.....neither do his friends. Bettina

Geez, I hope he's not gone for good. I kinda liked his bullyish attitude. He made me shake when I typed something to him. Bettina

He was mortal.....thats the sad part. I would say that was probably my favorite book of all time.....so far. Bettina

Here is a good article on how to explain a sphere to a 2D man. With this, you can teach yourself how to imagine the hypersphere. Go to each section in the series. I really liked this article a lot and when I finished, I was able to visualize the hypersphere. For awhile anyway.....but its gone now. I liked Hawkings book, and now I'm reading one a friend gave me called: Stephen Hawkings Universe...by David Filkin. Its short, but interesting. Bettina

He hasn't posted in 22 days and I can't go to his website cause he swears too much there. Bettina

SciFi....Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate SG1 to name my top two favorites. Bettina

Being anti-war is one thing, not really giving a **** is something entirely different. Bettina

I know where your coming from when you say that, but I will always pledge allegience to my country (not the jerk in power) because a lot of soldiers died just so you can say those words. Bettina

Grrrr...My dad told me awhile ago, that in very old homes glass became thicker on the bottom because glass was a liquid. Further he said thats why it loosens up. I'm gonna check... Bettina

Thomas Kirby.....In case your still listening, I can't let this go without saying that your a very hurt individual with a lot of emotional pain. I don't think you recognize the severity of your distress and its going to hurt you further than it already has. Nobody likes you the way you are, so find a friend that can help you get out of the place your in. So, goodbye and I hope things turn out ok for you. Bettina

Geez, I didn't get a chance to tell him that I didn't like him anymore. Bettina

Just so you are clear about me. I don't step on ants, I don't kill spiders, and I catch all of the bugs in the house and let them go outside. I use hav-a-heart traps to catch mice if one is around, and if its cold outside, I keep them in a hamster cage until spring. Everything and everyone that is good has a right to live out there lives in peace.....except... evil people who terrorize or kill children for there own sexual satisfaction. I've said this before, I have limits. Bettina

I delayed participating here because of the threads controversy and credability but I need to answer some of these for my own personal reasons while its still here. Me?....No I can't. If I could, I would work for a doctor. Once I know its a test, or something not real, I would get nothing. People who say they can do it at will are much different than me. Thank you very, very, much for this, and the chocolate idea. I haven't checked the link yet, but will do it tonight. I do eat a lot of chocolate and no peanut butter so I'm going to ease off on my candy binges now and see. The article mentions "intentional". Mine is not. I don't seek it or want it and I try to stop it but fail almost every time. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what he's saying but I will look further. Freak...Wierd...Nuts...are names that I've been called before but I've learned to keep quiet about my problems to almost everyone except my very close friends....and my friends here. Even the physco doesn't know everything. I'm still looking for a place that has people like me and I will let you "wierd" ones know when I find one. Please return the favor if you should find one first. I've never had luck in the past though. Thanks for the help Bettina

How in the world did Einstein come up with E=mc2
Bettina replied to GeminiinimeG's topic in Relativity
I go with this theory too. Almost like natural selection. I liken it to looking up and seeing a cessna fly by. It looks so simple. So much so, that a teen can fly it. However, when the Wright brothers were trying to make one fly, they didn't know what a plane should look like or even how to put one together. Where did the wing go, birds don't have vertical fins or rudders. Did it need a forward or rear stabilizer. How do you turn it, etc etc. They just kept trying different methods and when one worked, they kept adding to it. Dang, all the fun stuff has already been invented. Bettina -
I don't think semag68 meant anything by his remark so go easy on him. I admit to a little sarcasm myself in my comment when I asked him what he thought science was, so I'm sorry for that. Semag68, if you could only be me one time.....but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. The situation in New Orleans makes me feel very sympathetic, maybe a little more than the normal person, but it doesn't trigger anything else. I have no abnormal problems with global chaos or death, and like Mike90 said, I would not survive that amount of pain if I took that on myself so rather than tempt fate, I don't read that part of the news in too much detail. I got that advice from my forum friends here. With me its only animals, kids and old people that can trigger this "attachment" and it doesn't have to be physically in front of me as I explained with Jessica or the dozens before her. In a group of happy people I'm fine, but if I see a kid that isn't, and he is really in distress,...and....if I stare at him, I can lock on and become him in a matter of seconds. Sometimes its easy and I can actually feel the pain or distress he is going thru, but sometimes its very scary, especially if the other person doesn't let go or I can't. I've said all this before. Believe me, I never lie. Glider, I don't know what to tell you and having thought more about it, I rather see it closed than moved. Although I got understanding here from my friends, I didn't get the answers I was looking for and the physco I go to isn't helping me either because he's operating out of a box of educated knowledge that he was taught and I'm somewhere on the outside looking in. I don't know what my outcome will be, but Thomas Kirby....you need to turn around and come back while you still can, your in way too deep. Like I said before, and Mike90 too, I came here because I don't have anywhere else to go. Most of the other forums I went too, and I've been to all of them, eventually tried to tie magic or the occult into my problems, so I left. Some people on this forum understand me and it was great connecting with them. The people in this forum are intellegent....a far cry from those other places. I have a lot to learn and plan to stay here anyway. but as far as this topic is concerned, I can see the handwriting on the wall and I will have to look for another forum to find people like me. This is the one I was looking at and I prefer a reflector. He's still recovering but his answer is very much a no. http://www.telescopes.com/products/Celestron_8_Inch_CPC_Schmidt-Cassegrain_with_StarBright_XLT_Coatings_32983.html He wants to know whats wrong with this one... http://www.telescopes.com/products/Celestron_C6-N_Reflector_15622.html I'm not in any hurry, because winter is when I usually gaze since its clearer. Bettina P.S. is a meade better?
-
My meade was second hand and cost about $75.00 and I have about $400 saved. I don't have a job anymore since my park job ended, but since I take care of our house, mow the lawn, clean the pool, wash clothes, etc, I get an allowance from that. I'm really a maid. Anyway, he calls this "capital equipment" so he would pay for it like he pays for my all my books. I just want a good telescope with a tracking motor. Bettina
-
Last night I told my dad I wanted a Celestron telescope to replace my little meade. When I mentioned $2000 he choked. He wants me to get something cheaper, so here I am. What can I get that is descent but cheaper? Bettina

Since I started this thread, I have no objection to it being moved per semag68's request, or even closed if you wish. Semag68..... could you please explain to me what you think science means? Thanks... Bettina
