Here is good chart of the Radiation types . http://www.lbl.gov/images/MicroWorlds/EMSpec.gif -radio waves the wavelength is like a house -Microwave the wavelength is like a baseball -Inferred ,visible light and UV the wavelength is the size of the cell -X-ray the wavelength is the size of DNA. So Inferred ,visible light and UV may cause skin cancer and X-ray DNA damage.

how & where addiction established in brain for selected ones???
nec209 replied to venkyreddy's topic in Medical Science
It is the same reason why some people that drink ,smoke pot ,have sex or look at porn do it 2 or 3 times a week and other people get so hooked they are doing it every day or most of the day or all day -
I was hoping you would elaborate on this and explain how this works. The first post seems confusing.

how & where addiction established in brain for selected ones???
nec209 replied to venkyreddy's topic in Medical Science
I'm not sure on the chemicals and how the brain works but what do understand people that use heroin every day will never be same like first time one got high of heroin .The brain some how makes a tolerance and the drug user becomes very frustrating for trying to get that high again. Also the drugs changes the body and one becomes sick when one is not taking the drug so called withdrawals. -
Sorry I do not understand . Are you saying the heat is too low and the wavelength is to long to cause ionization .

I have not read much about dopamine and how it works and is related to drug abuse .I do know that dopamine is related to drug abuse but I will allow some of the PHD members here in biology to jump in here at this point to claer this up with more info. -
Why does rats and rodents have so many diseases ?

So one should not kill spiders or ants in house I do not understand? How so ? -
Why does rats and rodents have so many diseases ?
nec209 replied to nec209's topic in Other Sciences
So you saying that insects eat dirt ,dead human skin flakes, dead insects , dead human nails , garbage ,feces ,rotten food and other food around the house? If most animals or rodents bite people they can get really sick and may die . Rats are really bad. Where if insects bite people nothing happen other than some poisonous insects the same with fish. -
how & where addiction established in brain for selected ones???

I think we need to understand what is dopamine and how it works before we talk more here and how that is relates. It looks like a miscommunication problem. http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dopamine http://drugabuse.gov/infofacts/understand.html Biology. The genes that people are born with––in combination with environmental influences––account for about half of their addiction vulnerability. Additionally, gender, ethnicity, and the presence of other mental disorders may influence risk for drug abuse and addiction. Environment. A person’s environment includes many different influences, from family and friends to socioeconomic status and quality of life in general. Factors such as peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse, stress, and quality of parenting can greatly influence the occurrence of drug abuse and the escalation to addiction in a person’s life. Development. Genetic and environmental factors interact with critical developmental stages in a person’s life to affect addiction vulnerability. Although taking drugs at any age can lead to addiction, the earlier that drug use begins, the more likely it will progress to more serious abuse, which poses a special challenge to adolescents. Because their brains are still developing in the areas that govern decisionmaking, judgment, and self-control, adolescents may be especially prone to risk-taking behaviors, including trying drugs of abuse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Substance_dependence Drug addiction is a state of periodic or chronic intoxication produced by the repeated consumption of a drug (natural or synthetic). Its characteristics include: (i) an overpowering desire or need (compulsion) to continue taking the drug and to obtain it by any means; (ii) a tendency to increase the dose; (iii) a psychic (psychological) and generally a physical dependence on the effects of the drug; and (iv) detrimental effects on the individual and on society. Drug habituation (habit) is a condition resulting from the repeated consumption of a drug. Its characteristics include (i) a desire (but not a compulsion) to continue taking the drug for the sense of improved well-being which it engenders; (ii) little or no tendency to increase the dose; (iii) some degree of psychic dependence on the effect of the drug, but absence of physical dependence and hence of an abstinence syndrome [withdrawal], and (iv) detrimental effects, if any, primarily on the individual. Addiction is a primary, chronic, neurobiologic disease, with genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors influencing its development and manifestations. It is characterized by behaviors that include one or more of the following: impaired control over drug use, compulsive use, continued use despite harm, and craving. Physical dependence is a state of being that is manifested by a drug class specific withdrawal syndrome that can be produced by abrupt cessation, rapid dose reduction, decreasing blood level of the drug, and/or administration of an antagonist. Tolerance is the body's physical adaptation to a drug: greater amounts of the drug are required over time to achieve the initial effect as the body "gets used to" and adapts to the intake. Pseudo addiction is a term which has been used to describe patient behaviors that may occur when pain is undertreated. Patients with unrelieved pain may become focused on obtaining medications, may "clock watch," and may otherwise seem inappropriately "drug seeking." Even such behaviors as illicit drug use and deception can occur in the patient's efforts to obtain relief. Pseudoaddiction can be distinguished from true addiction in that the behaviors resolve when pain is effectively treated. Acute (or recreational) use of most psychoactive drugs causes the release and prolonged action of dopamine and serotonin within the reward circuit. Different types of drugs produce these effects by different methods. Dopamine (DA) appears to harbor the largest effect and its action is characterized. DA binds to the D1 receptor, triggering a signaling cascade within the cell. cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) phosphorylates cAMP response element binding protein (CREB), a transcription factor, which induces the transcription of certain genes including C-Fos.[10] Role of dopamineNearly all addictive drugs, directly or indirectly, act upon the brain’s reward system by flooding the circuit with dopamine.[16] As a person continues to overstimulate the “reward circuit”, the brain adapts to the overwhelming surges in dopamine by producing less of the hormones or by reducing the number of receptors in the reward circuit. As a result, the chemical’s impact on the reward circuit is lessened, reducing the drug-abuser’s ability to enjoy the things that previously brought pleasure.[16] This decrease compels those addicted to the dopaminergenic-effect of the drug, to increase the drug consumption in order to re-create the earlier or initial experiences and to bring their "feel-good" hormone level back to normal —an effect known as tolerance. Development of dopamine tolerance can eventually lead to profound changes in neurons and brain circuits, with the potential to severely compromise the long-term health and functioning of a person's brain.[17] Modern antipsychotics are designed to block dopamine function. Unfortunately, this blocking can also cause relapses into depression, and increases in addictive behaviors -
I'm not Understand some thing here . I thought it was the wavelength that cause cancer not heat? I thought radio waves and microwave the wavelength is too long to pass your skin but UV and x-ray the wavelength is so short it is like size of cell . So no matter the wattage ( energy ) the wavelength of radio waves and microwave the wavelength is too long .

Why does rats and rodents have so many diseases ?
nec209 replied to nec209's topic in Other Sciences
No he is saying that if insects where like rats and eat sewage, and everything be it garbage ,feces ,rotten food ,dead animals and other diry stuff just about anything they will eat than insects would be like rats and have just has many dieseases . Meaning gettng a spider bite or ant bite may kill a person. Also put it an other way if person would eat sewage, and everything be it garbage ,feces ,rotten food ,dead animals and other diry stuff just about anything the person would be very sick and most likely die but for the most part rants their immune system is a lot stronger so can eat that stuff and not get sick. This is what I do not understand why that is the case? So in other words insects may have just has many disease but we do not know about it? -
Why does rats and rodents have so many diseases ?
nec209 replied to nec209's topic in Other Sciences
Can you elaborate here? If you look at most medical books there are thousands of thousands of disease both infectious diseases ,autoimmune disease , cancer and other diseases even born defects that humans have. Where fish and insects do not seem to have this problem . And where animals and rodents do have this problem it does not seem to be has bad has humans . I think there would be alot of money for scientist to learn about these life forms and understand the process and diseases if it is the same , more or less diseases than humans. I don't understand how small insects or fish so small can get sick when they are so small. -
The cells have DNA so would you not have to ionize atoms of the cells ? What do you mean by vigorous exercise can cause cell damage to do to heat.

how & where addiction established in brain for selected ones???
nec209 replied to venkyreddy's topic in Medical Science
No the drug does not have dopamine or release dopamine. When you play video game , have sex , smoke ,drink or do drugs or playing sports you brain will release dopamine. The more dopamine the more likely one will be addicted. You not reading my post clearing. -
Why did this thread get moved to Politics ? I wanted some one that understands science to explain how this works and where the media may be getting the information wrong. I don't realy understand how this works has you can tell in the first post. In the news today. People that have sex, drink or smoke pot have lots dopamine release. Where cocaine will have way more dopamine release than say where one has sex, drink or smoke pot but not has high has tabaco ( tabaco is very addicting . Only meth and crack and other very hardcore drugs like pain killers have so much dopamine that one is addicted the first time. Other than people born with liitle dopamine where they can have sex, drink or smoke pot and be addicted the first time. -
Their blood is blue because it is mixed with reptilian blood
nec209 replied to evrik's topic in Medical Science
With advance genetic engineering you could have human that is hybrids human / reptilian. But no just having sex or giving blood will not do it.at all.. It will have to be advance genetic engineering . I think he is watching way too many shows called ancient aliens on the history channel. I have one major problem with is . Why would advance alien be it lizards or not want to control or even be among such a primitive race? It is like saying if you could live or control people in the medieval time would you ? That just make this up star system b34 that say people there it is a medieval time period would you go? And a modern civilization like now 2011 to the medieval time would not be that mcuh a cap than say a advance alien civilization to are modern civilization like now 2011 , would be so much a major cap it would be a major culture shock . It be like taking person from a modern civilization like now 2011 and saying you going to be in stone age . Look if there are alien they may zip by like we send probes out but not want to live or be among such a primitive race. If in the future when we go from a modern civilization to a more advance civilization than first contact may happen. -
how & where addiction established in brain for selected ones???
nec209 replied to venkyreddy's topic in Medical Science
Some people are born with litle dopamine. When one drinks or do drugs one gets lots of dopamine and this can lead to a addiction do to your brain will crave the dopamine. Most people are born to have lots of dopamine , but some that lack dopamine and just having sex or drinking is like way way way way way more enjoyable than like most people feel.So those people that lack dopamine things like sex ,drugs and drinking is way more enjoyable than most people that have lots of dopamine. Anytime you give you brain lots of dopamine you will crave it alot do to the way the brain is .That is why people that lack dopamine also called addiction personality tyes get so addicted. -
What are you saying that if there was no US those countries would go to war?

Why does rats and rodents have so many diseases ?
nec209 replied to nec209's topic in Other Sciences
I was talking to buddy I know and infectious diseases came up and saying human and animals are very conplex life form where fish and rodents are older life form and less conplex . And insect are very crude life form and very old. Saying there be more infectious diseases in more conplex life form and new life form . Going on to say you can probably give any fish or insect a infectious diseases and nothing will happen. But human and animals are more conplex life form and new and do not know how to cope with infectious diseases . May be we need better immune system. Also rats eat sewage, and everything be it garbage ,feces ,rotten food ,dead animals and other diry stuff just about anything they will eat. So they pick up loads of dieseases but their immune system is a lot lot stronger.Rats are often in sewers and places like that so they pick up loads of dieseases but their immune system is a lot lot stronger than ours so they dont get sick .But if they bite us we get sick and may die. -
