I was reading some where on the internet that Canada and US spent more on healthcare in the 70's and 80's than the late 90's. and it is less than 5% of the GDP go to healthcare :eek: They also go on to say that the 90's in the US and Canada the goverment put cap on the number of doctors to drive the cost up and so there is a shortage of doctors. Also saying the amout of money per GDP per healthcare is lower now than the 70's and 80's .And the US spend more on healthcare than Canada. ****** The thing is healthcare is a business base on who has the money for treatment and fat cats who profit of sick people with little money trickling back to by new med supply or cover cost. . The shortage of doctors is artificially created to drive cost up.To fix problem build more med schools ,remove cap of enrolment to schools ,pay school tuition fees , bring immigrants in to work ,remove administration staff who make million a year ,lower wages to countries like Europe ,remove government and administration burecrats who jump in bad with intrest groups and business and make a million yaer being paper pusher . But this will not happen in the US :eek:people want to be rich and yet thing they can get what other Europe countries can get in service that is just digging their own hole and the same thing is happing with NASA. The car companies is other thing where people got too much money and too many benefits.

Many of the things you say above was not there 50 or 100 years ago like Ct scan ,pet scan ,ultrusound ,MRI so on. Those things have been around for 200 years. But here is thing , cancer was a death sentence before.Now alot of people who get cancer live thanks to Chemotherapy ,radiation ,drugs ,surgery and lasers that was not possible 50 yaers ago or even 30 yaers ago. People who had diabetes or allergic to some thing died 50 years ago and now they can live thanks to drugs. Well Asthma you died 50 years ago now you got puffers ,drugs and IV's . If you had a parasite , fungus or virus you died But 200 years ago they discovered parasite , fungus and virus. Good to understand but this is playing god when you mess with people DNA.

Keep in mind 98% of stuff above would not be possible with out electricity or the micrscope. There was not alot of progress in science or medicine in the middle age do to the chuch and alot of science or medicine was lost . The Greek and Roman medicine was very good :-)doing surgery and using herbs ,drinks,flowers even though 60% of the herbs ,drinks,flowers did nothing the other percent did work. (( Hippocrates of Cos maintains that diseases have natural causes and puts forth the Hippocratic Oath, marking the birth of medicine in the west. )) This guy was good to bad he was not in the middle age that thought sin was why there is diseases . Why does healthcare cost so much? Like every year healthcare cost is so high .There is a shortage of doctors and the healthcare cost is so high . A cost of a MRI or CT scan is extremely costly and governments are having a very hard time to give money to healthcare . What is going on and why is it like that.Why is there a shortage of doctors. Why was the 60's, 70's, 80's better than now with high cost and shortage of doctors. I hear of long wait times in the ER why is that.Why is the cost so much higher than 30 or 40 years ago

I'm doing a project in school on the medicine we have now and medicine in the past or years ago in the past.The only things I can think of ar. 1.liver, heart, kidney ,face transplant we have now not possible 50 yaers ago. 2.Working on a person brain or heart .No doctor would do that 50 years ago . 3.Microscope invented in 1800's allow us today to understand the microorganism and what causes diseases and illnesses. 4.The Microscope and computers / math allowed inventions in drugs. 5.People with HIV are living longer than 20 years ago. 6.People who have cancer is no longer a death sentence.( only some cancers are easier to treat and well others are harder to treat . 7.New advances MRI ,CT scan, x-rays not possible 50 years ago. 8.Understanding of cell and DNA not possible 100 years ago. 9.Understanding of the brain not possible 50 years ago. A1. There are cures for some cancers, fungi and parasites A2 There are cures for Ebola, and Bubonic Plague A3. There is cure for SARS A4 There is cure for some bird flue strains A5 Has for influenza some strains there is a cure. All of this stuff is treatable, and most curable, depending upon what parasite, fungi, cancer, and strain of TB. Anyways I cannot think of more or cannot elaborate.But I'm doing this project . If anyone will like to add than please do.Also any more information about microscope will help or advance math and computer models to find new drugs

It does respond to electric fields High concentration electromagnetic radiation is not good for you.The stronger the current the stroger the electromagnetic field ans that is bad . The Newton law is any object that is moving has kinetic energy .What is kinetic energy it is energy of motion .Any object that is moving has kinetic energy . The measure of its energy is its momentum.To eleberate in more detail momentum is mass and speed.The more massive the object is or the greater its speed , the geater it its momentum.A big car that is moving fast has alot of momentum and when it hits some thing it tries to keep moving Any object that is not moving will not move unless a force makes it move and any object moving will not stop unless a force makes it stop or slow down.

Well Stem cells is not the only one that will stimulate bone growth or repair.This substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard will stimulate bone growth or repair. So if you brake your bone and go to the ER they will put this substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard and it will be like your bone. What I'm having a hard time to understand is tumorigenesis and why some proteins are bad. When the cell mutated or deregulated why can't the proteins function properly .Why is the protein different. Why can't they make a protein inhibitor they do it with HIV protease .

Wow I did not know there was so much Chemistry . That takes care how they look for a cue but does not explain the conplex of the problem or why it takes so long for cure . It is not snap there is problem in 2 years there is cure it takes years and years some times 40 years to cure comes out.It is very conplex. From my understanding it is the type of electromagnetic radiation and intensity and the duration of exposure . The type of electromagnetic radiation being the wavelength band. The intensity being how strong the EMF is A radio trasmitting at 80 watts is not strong but a radio trasmitting at 500 watts is vey strong. The Ultraviolet,X-rays ,Gamma rays are bad type of electromagnetic radiation do to cell damage. Other types of electromagnetic radiation cannot cause cell damage. The short wavelength have alot of energy it holds and the long wavelength have less energy .. I think most EMF are good if the trasmitting power is low .But I do not want to get job at a power station or MRI tech.

I'm trying to understand Newton's Third Law of Motion: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If a rocket does not push on air than what drives it? Is it internal pressure in the Combustion chamber ? When the gas escape pushes on gas accelerating it backward then the gas must therefore push forward on rocket:eek: The mass have be the same? Small mass cannot move big mass it has be the same mass.

I think the past 2 replies should have been posted in the thread understanding cancer. But I'm really trying to understand how drugs are made and how pharmaceutical companies go about looking for a cure.

We do not want to stop cells that replicate only the bad cells that replicate .Sure cells have to replicate and divide to replace the dead cells or damaged cells. But you say the DNA in the cell tell the cell how to replicate or divide ?And the DNA in the cell does the various check-points ? When a cell is misbehaving what is it doing and why can't the DNA fix it? But the cells need protein to live .How can the protein be bad ? This what I do not understand how can the cells DNA get damaged? And how can the DNA fix it self? Some people can have bad food and smoke every day for 70 years and have no problem some people cannot do this for 10 years. Your body is so conplex and everyone is different. Yes every cancer has different symptoms but basic of what cancer is cells gone bad replicating and taking over. What do you mean bt agents .Can they not come up with a drug that is not poisonous . So they have to find a way so the drug is not alter by the body chemistry . The idea how the pharmaceutical companies go about looking for a cure is conplex .Do they use math or different combinations ?

I think the debade part you hear on the news about evolution is people who have problems go to hospital or see a doctor. And believe the body is starting to reject drugs like the flu virus.After time the virus , bacteria or parasite find way around the drug.And believe medicine in 21 century is doing more harm than good for the body.By the immune system too depended on drugs and technology to live.
