  1. A new method for producing electricity from carbon dioxide could be the start of a classic trash-to-treasure story for the troublesome greenhouse gas, scientists are reporting. Described in an article in ACS' newly launched journal Environmental Science & Technology Letters, the method uses CO2 from electric power plant and other smokestacks as the raw material for making electricity. … They describe technology that would react the CO2 with water or other liquids and, with further processing, produce a flow of electrons that make up electric current. Note: Adapted from a news release issued by American Chemical Society.
  2. If the solar cell is put in the sun, photons will strike the surface of the Silicon and pass their energy on to electrons. A typical photon can eject one electron from its nucleus creating a free electron and a vacancy. These free electrons will feel the effect of the electric field. They are pushed towards the junction on the N-side and away from the junction on the P-side. Likewise, the vacancy, which has a net positive charge, will be pulled towards the junction on P-side and pushed away from it on the N-side. This upsets the balance of electric charge. If an external current path connects the two sides of the cell the electrons can be swept back to the P-side to reunite with their vacancies. As sun continues to hit the Silicon cell a steady flow of electrons or current is created. The power generated by the cell is the product of this current and the voltage created by the cell’s electric field. This is the mechanism involved in production of electricity by silicon in solar cells.
  3. A simple, low-cost and eco-friendly method of creating nitrogen-doped graphene nanoplatelets (NGnPs), which could be used in dye-sensitized solar cells and fuel cells, is published in Scientific Reports today. The work, carried out at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) in South Korea, could be a step towards replacing conventional platinum (Pt)-based catalysts for energy conversion. The search for economically viable alternatives to fossil fuels has attracted attention among energy communities because of increasing energy prices and climate change. Solar cells and fuel cells are to be promising alternatives, but Pt-based electrodes are expensive and susceptible to environmental damage.
  4. okay..I am going to find information on getting aware of what not to do with each chemical. Thanks!
  5. I am assisting you by telling you the main principle..you have to solve it yourself To convert micro gram per milli liter in to moles first convert microgram into gram and milli liter into liter and at the end divide it with molar mass.
  6. I think bananas were not getting the appropriate conditions for their ripening and after some days instead of ripening they turned black. As bananas are best ripened in a bit warmer weather so I think you could not provide the best environment.I have experienced growing bananas in my home but it was not a good experience because I could not provide the optimum conditions for their ripening. In my case bananas were too much mushy and their peels were almost brown and most of my bananas were wasted. So it is difficult to get best ripened bananas in your home untill you can provide the same conditions as the sellers do to get good ripened bananas.
  7. Remember! a chemical change produces a new substance while a physical change does not produce a new substance. Now think on the examples which you are asking..I hope it will help you.
  8. Any one please answer me while working in lab which common chemicals should not be mixed?A few days ago my class mate was working with some chemicals in the lab.At once there was an explosion in the beaker. It was terrifying. So I want to ask that which common chemicals e.g, NaOH,CasO4 etc. should not be mixed? Thanks
