  1. http://www.malware-traffic-analysis.net/2015/09/14/index.html this talks a little bit about it. Looks like the normal shenanigans. Infect, blackmail to decrypt.
  2. No. Natural processes are not intelligent. What they do provide is selective pressure. Go to your clothes and remove all the red ones. Now remove all the shirts. Now although you didn't plan on a pair of blue jeans in the final group, there they are. That is how evolution works in a nutshell. If "survive" is selected for often enough you end up with creatures really good at it. And no, I don't believe in Evolution either. We have this thing called "evidence". You don't need to believe in the sky being blue. Like the sky's color, the evidence for Evolution is freely and widely available.
  3. Knots are a velocity. I think if you record how long that velocity is maintained, multiply that time by the velocity and then add it to Total Distance, that could work.
  4. CO2 from fermentation is probable.
  5. Sheer numbers of offspring could have "won" the day with a small enough group. Note we could still be related to her contemporaries. ie. Mitochondrial Eve's Daughter(Mitochondrial Strain A) + Lilith's Son(Mitochondrial Strain B) => Samantha(Mitochondrial Strain A)
  6. Ebola is not well adapted to us. The very thing that makes it so deadly is what makes it easy to spot and see that the person is treated and isolated. You can discuss cultural acceptance and the affordability/availability of protective devices, without lumping a group of people together like that. Way too much xenophobia lately. Most probably just want to find work so they can send remittances home and/or get themselves set up so they can bring their wives and children in relative safety.
  7. From the description and pictures sounds like Chlorosis.
  8. I've seen random layout virtual keyboards used to combat this. Interesting to see the moves and counter-moves. There's only so many members. Nothing for a script to try them all here. More practically you can probably narrow it down significantly based on where you found it, even better if the person has the username field set to auto-fill. Really you want to use a passphrase whenever more security is desired, at least until something better comes along. People tend to reuse usernames. They are after all memorable. Probably the main issue. If we gave people the fields: Password 1: Password 2: the situation would probably be different. As it is they are low complexity and often reused. Passwords aren't much better but differing complexity requirements at least add some kind of wrinkle. Security questions are used to validate IP addresses and in password recovery. I'm sure UK law governing banking differs from that of the US, though I don't know the particulars. As a practical matter I safeguard my funds via use of credit, limiting my risk substantially. Something like a firewall. Should note that there are security tokens out there that function similarly to what you are describing.
  9. Usernames are not real secure these days. Honestly sounds like your bank is simply more security focused than most. Mine, all I have to do is type in my password while using a trusted IP address.
  10. Main concern is that it would be single factor authentication. This has proven to be inadequate for protection of financial assets in the past.
  11. I gave the negative. I thought the post was crankishly condescending along with being insulting to atheists. Many acts of comfort have nothing to do with references to an afterlife. You can offer a shoulder to cry on, help with daily life, remembrances of how the person touched your life and the lives of others, etc. ...and no, I'm not atheistic myself(my faith in FSM remains strong). Note: Sometimes software likes to timeout if you take too long writing your post. Possibly the Universe wants you to speed up, save your work, look at changing the software you are using, etc. What it isn't doing is trying to tell you anything in regards to the content of what you were posting.
  12. We just aren't seeing any pressure for the changes to amount to anything though. The fact that diversity increases with population size is fairly well understood already.
  13. Have you looked into the Red Queen Hypothesis any?
  14. I don't recall if the usage of kg or kgf as a unit of force was even mentioned in our equivalent of secondary. I suspect it is just easier to teach 1N=1kg * 1m/s^2 and leave discussion on what units people more commonly use aside
  15. Newton gets no love.
  16. Kilograms is a unit of mass. If your mass is 80 kg on Earth, it will be 80 kg on the moon. The force you feel as a result of gravity(weight) is what will be less on the moon.
  17. There's only the case of mixing when the wall itself is damaged(bad very bad). Why the question? Some clarification could help.
  18. There's stress involved even if the mass remains stationary. You can feel this directly by holding a decent weight out for a span of time. You manage 20 kg(~44 lbs) for all of a minute and a half and you'll have set a new record.
  19. Energy, not necessarily electricity.
  20. I think the issue stems from the fact that the energy input isn't always obvious. Easier to feel the weight of a globe held in your hand, than it is to notice a power cord snaking out from the base of a toy.
  21. ^Most definitely this. Very useful, even if you can't find exactly what you are after you can often find enough to help you discover a solution. @OP: Do you happen to know which language(s) the course will cover?
  22. Selective Reserve program covers the bulk of draftees in the US(legal requirement to sign up for males ages 18-25). For a period of time you are more likely to be called up if you have served or are waiting to serve(IRR), but that fact alone doesn't dictate whether you will be drafted or not. Should also bear in mind you can always claim conscientious objector status. I don't know. Military already does serve as something of a job training program for a score of professions. Not really useful to have anyone serving as a bullet sponge anymore.
  23. Knew I should have added "in terms of appearance". Mainly thinking how people are fascinated by the likes of floating frogs and Hendos, but if you suspended a frog via strings or offered people a 5 minute skateboard ride for $100 the reactions will be very different.
  24. Closest to anti-gravity we can come are different forms of magnetic levitation.
  25. You probably want to look at the M-Theory article on the wiki. Generally speaking the extra dimensions are described as being curled in on themselves.
