Will robot-to-human romantic relationship ever happen?

Speculative photo-hover region around black holes?

Don't beat yourself up. Pretty common. -
Yeah this was pretty awesome. The little lander that could. Should be some good data too as it swings around the sun.

Basically this for Fractional Reserve System(US). Federal Reserve.

I've thought about this but it would be hard to deliberately stress myself out that much. One time for example was during boot camp when I had my bunk kicked until I was up and standing(apparently zero awareness is required for this). Mercifully FSM intervened and the instructors were called away before they realized what was going on. You mean they still haven't let you in on the practical joke?

I've always ended up back in bed so far. Whatever neurons are taking my body out for a walk at least know where they need to return the thing.
-
I think I have actually. Gunshots where there were none. I was pretty out of it though. Feverish and on medications, while still only half awake. Sleepwalking is the only one I've had happen repeatedly and thankfully only when exceptionally stressed. Somewhat vexingly can't experience that one.

We are all human. Might help to focus on the muscles you can move, fingers, eyes; until you come out of it. I'm honestly curious to know what it is like to experience it myself. Only sleep oddity left on my bucket list.

Microsoft Exchange Server is expecting the attachments to be at the end of the email. You can ask them to: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4981187 or just make sure their attachments come at the end of their text.

The anecdotes are in hopes that they might convince you where mountains of evidence has failed. Most relate to tales of experiences of other human beings best. Give someone the quantity that a Californian almond farm pumps out of the ground and their eyes glaze over. Tell someone about a family watching their well dry up as a result and they take note. You've got all kinds of charts and reports posted in this thread. There is video and/or satellite imagery of the principally impacted areas out there online. You don't want anecdotes, okay. Then what evidence would convince you?

It was too warm. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/minneapolis-mn/55415/month/348794?monyr=12/01/2014 https://www.google.com/search?q=warmest+winter+on+record+2014&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 These temperatures made me happy and really how bad can a lack of snow melt be? https://www.google.com/search?q=lack+of+snow+melt+drought If you want something easier to relate to: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/08/opinion/sunday/the-end-of-snow.html?_r=0 http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/12/19/3091181/russia-promises-snow/

We've got the government writing up plans on how to best take advantage of an ice free arctic. http://www.defense.gov/pubs/2013_Arctic_Strategy.pdf The Denialist approach reminds me of the Man in a Boat parable. Multiple sources say something world changing is occurring and the man on the roof stays up there refusing to accept the evidence. I headed up to just South of the border with Canada was greeted by the, admittedly, welcome sight of no snow on the ground. It's like Global warming is a myth, huh? Tell me another joke. Maybe that one about the Pacific Garbage Patch and dead coral reefs will be up up next.

Theory for new Cancer treatment
Endy0816 replied to Stli's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Your thinking is inline with newer treatment options. http://www.angio.org/learn/angiogenesis/ -
I think what you are thinking of is the generator portion. You could seal that in a vacuum and it will work just fine. Main issues then become maintaining the vacuum while still operating the generator and getting rid of heat. Generators have indeed made use of roller and ball bearings.

You would take additional conversion and friction losses, lowering total energy output. Instead of simply: Mechanical to Electrical you end up with: Mechanical to Electrical to Mechanical to Electrical

The short answer is that the units need to work out as well. 1 Newton = 1 kg * 1 m/s2 or It takes a Newton of force to accelerate a kilogram of mass at a meter per second2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton_%28unit%29

The problem with CO2 is that it impacts both the atmospheric and ocean composition. Just me, but I don't want our descendents to end up on a Venus-like Earth with oceans of carbonic acid. Our machines utilize oxygen without having to deal with the typical downsides faced by us organics. It isn't the fact that the world would be different that is a problem(at least until things get really bad). The issue lies in the fact that our civilization is arranged around the world as it is. Over half of the US lives within 50 miles of the coast. Farming is based on existing weather patterns, etc. Sure the Arctic Ocean being ice free will finally give us a Northwest passage. On the downside, there are a whole lot of downsides. and does it look so great if you live in Florida? Even Northern states see hurricanes and related storm surges(expected to be worse in a warmer world). Take Hurricane Sandy. Now consider the fact that it was only a Category 3. Not as bad as it could have been, for all that it caused billions in damages and over two hundred deaths(if anyone was impacted by this you have my sympathies). We can deal with the simple coastlines movement. What we can't easily deal with are the knock on impacts. Going to take mass evacuation and/or considerable infrastructure in the future. Both necessarily have a detrimental cost for society as a whole.

Stick your head in the sand, trends like this are nothing to be concerned about... http://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/ Honestly as far as those seeking wealth and power go, a harsher future world offers more opportunity for this, not less. Think Mad Max. Before running into Max the 'Villain' provided: Hydroponics Clean Water Medical Care Armed Forces In addition to all this, he established neighboring communities and opened trade routes between them.

Non-coding DNA has been explained within existing theory. Acting to regulate expression and serve as a mutation buffer and source of novel material.

The sleeve itself shows promise in allowing consumers to more easily engage with voltage regulation tech. Note you can buy/build a circuit that can do the basics of this at home. Joule Thief is probably the Ur example, if you want to look it up. Looking at their own patent(which lists a fairly conservative test), listed as the batteries lasting 4-7 times longer. 800% as long is probably out for real world usage. Keep in mind you could also purchase rechargeable batteries. Sleeve used with different circuitry can help in another way(limiting battery discharge level, extending battery life) but can only help give you that last erg of power when a battery can not be recharged anymore. Don't think I'll invest in it personally, but backing the development of the technology behind it sounds reasonably worthwhile.

Can't use hardware to compute an answer like you could with 6/3, for example. Basically asking the computer to count how many times one number can be subtracted from another until you reach zero(or some other limit). There are other methods for dividing out there, but that is the gist of the problem. Software-wise it is actually easy to do. Check the number you are dividing by prior to attempting division and instead of dividing return the desired result. Problem is the deeper you go the more your system is going to start breaking down. 2/0 = 2 1/2 * 0 = 0 (1/2 *0)-1 = ??? 2/0 = 2 2 - 2 = 0 2/0 - 2/0 = 0 0 + 2/0 = ??? The other way to put it is that once you've changed one axiom you have to change others to compensate.

Ferguson conflict - What is the problem, and how to solve it?
Endy0816 replied to CaptainPanic's topic in Politics
Looks about what you would expect. I looked at the violent crime statistics at one point and saw they were fairly comparable across our countries. You are just more likely to have someone end up dead here. Luckily most guns are in few hands but people with stockpiles can lead to issues as well, so not much better. -

A lot of guns here in circulation. Gotta assume the 'bad guy' is armed with a deadly weapon. Action may be bad, but inaction is likely to be worse. That's the nasty logic anyways. May be partially racially biased, but probably more due to sheer socioeconomics than anything else.
