Fittest in evolutionary terms is used only in the reproductive sense(more offspring = better). The DNA doping the brain to try and get a reward seeking individual to do what best ensures continuance of the DNA(or that of kin), falls right in there. Most organisms though are hardwired. Their patterns continue because that is what is encoded in the pattern itself. It is only when choice became a factor that evolution had to find a solution. -

You train a machine or even another brain to interpret outputs and inputs. There doesn't appear to be any universal programming language though. It is illegal in some states, though not in all. Generally just looked down upon though. I think that is the main reason it isn't as prevalent in the U.S. We're generally talking about a week's worth of clothes, so simple weather can also be an issue. Humidity cause drying to take longer where I live and it is likely as not to rain before all the clothes are finished drying. Edit: Changing the past changes the future.

Large scale condensers are another option. Also utilizing lasers to create paths for lightning. Most of this is too low key to have much impact one way or another.

The asset freeze happened after Japan invaded parts of China. Was at least an attempt to deter further aggression. Should look deeper when it comes to cases of escalating hostilities. We've at least started getting away from blanket bans(crosses fingers) and now target individuals. In general the non-atomic plan would have been a wholesale invasion with a higher projected death total on both sides. Which is what Acme was referring to. Would have led to an estimated 5-10 million Japanese civilian causalities. Makes me ill that it came to that, but from a numbers standpoint this outcome was 'better'.

If you do the math you'll find that it does not exist. Therefore we do not need to look for it because it doesn't exist. There some things you feel which are not real. Your mass resists changes to velocity and direction. That is all that is going on here. If you have math that indicates otherwise then please present it.

Pretty much unless your system is woefully unsecured it won't be possible to change the time remotely. You'd need to get the person to download something and at that point you have simpler options. Main issue would be that the value you are using as your 'random' number would follow a pattern or depending on the time, be the exact same value. you can play around with this here: http://xor.pw/? Note: This is assuming you are using straight system time and not a more convoluted PRNG.

I found it liked this one. It either didn't get the age right or Van Gogh faked his death. Another one where the age is likely a wee bit off. 'The Night Watch' is my favorite so far: I'm half seriously wondering if this could eventually develop into a proper tool for art history. If you know the date the artwork was produced, you could determine the person's date of birth(year). If you know date of birth, you could determine the date the artwork was made.

We have a high rate of spontaneous abortion. There probably isn't much point in storing the vast majority. Personally I'm pro-choice, though lean towards the doctor suggesting giving the baby up for adoption in later term pregnancies.

It is still sexual reproduction. All that is concerned with is the sperm and the egg meeting. Doesn't matter how. Look at different species out there. Many simply release theirs en masse into the world at large. Looking only at your genetics nobody would be able to tell you from one your 'artificial' people. Major difference would lie in the environmental aspects of development. Initial immunity, food preferences, etc. Even that we could randomly vary or ideally prepare the next generation to specific issues/threats.

all depends on what you consider alot That's the estimated value, but we're using natural gas for the hydrogen which we could be burning instead. I'd wager its at least a bit higher in terms of opportunity cost. To support the population levels we have, natural means are not typically thought to provide enough. We'd need to look at either reducing the population or increasing the amount of land given over to crops. If it makes you feel better, we will have to switch eventually to more sustainable methods. Phosphate is the other side of the coin. We can't pull it out of the air like we do nitrogen. As sources are mined out, we'll be stuck with ensuring a sustainable loop.

Actually the Haber-Bosch process makes it extremely easy to fix our own nitrogen. Takes nitrogen gas(78% of our air), a fairly small amount of energy and natural gas resources(single digits for both of the last two) in exchange for effectively removing the major limit on plant growth. We are presently having the opposite problem, we are fixing far more nitrogen than ever occurred naturally. The fertilizer isn't being completely utilized and is ending up in the ecosystem. The flip side is that without it, we would need more land under cultivation or more people would be starving. Likewise at least some portion of government policies would have continued to revolve around control of guano supplies. Depending on how bad the situation became, this could have been cause for war(again).
