But neither contributes a great number of visitors(US actually outdoing Russia). We could reasonably expect upwards of 800,000 additional American arrivals. Honestly based on proximity and our population size I would expect that number to go well over a million.

There would almost have to be substantial international investment. Most everything is in too poor condition to receive any kind of volume. Hotels, docks, airports, transit systems, assorted monuments, etc. Partially church restoration which resulted in the Popes' involvement starting all this. Basically the full embargo was the end result of repeated economic volleys fired back and forth between America and the USSR, with the Containment Doctrine playing a starring role. IMO business interests will probably play a role again via assorted means of campaign financing(and representatives actually seeking what is best for the job creators in their regions).

Only thing I can think of that might work would be the utilization of waste hydrogen from oxygen production operations. Would be pretty limited in scale though.

Personally I'm all for it due to the trade aspect. Looks like there will be a fair bit of push back though. It is fairly obvious Obama is hoping for this to be his "legacy" but I am not sure how it is going to play out in Congress. There are also multiple issues surrounding Guantanamo Bay needing resolution.

You would need to exert additional force at an angle for it to move in the horizontal. The main issue are the energy demands involved. I don't see it as being particularly practical with the batteries we have.

It isn't possible for the meter to vary because of how we have defined it. If you are talking about an arbitrary length changing, then from what I've read we wouldn't be able to observe this as occurring(ie. every distance X, is now 2x long). Not sure how clear that is. Others can probably explain better. -
Looks like nausea and vomiting are the only marginally possible risks. I'm sure there are some more extreme ones if you seriously chow down on a tube, but that isn't terribly likely.

Yeah, we are just bad about considering fire only in terms of our atmospheric composition. Admittedly it does play a large role in terms of what we see on a regular basis, but you can end up with cases where the reaction could care less about oxygen deprivation.

You can do it in the reverse order. Why do more work than you have to? In any case telomere extension does occur naturally in some cell types(normally anyways...) as well. You probably haven't found it unpleasant so far.

Basically even when there is a mountain of evidence and mathematical models in support we leave open the possibility that we might yet be wrong. All the evidence says the Universe is expanding, but we admit that we could yet be wrong despite all that. That doesn't mean we are in fact wrong, just that we are open to the possibility. You will have to look to Religion if you are seeking certainty. If you want something always open to change you look to Science. Depends. In typical everyday math, yes. Sometimes though it is really handy to instead place our upper limit at 1. ex. 1+1=1 1+0=1 0+1=1 0+0=0 -
This is the one I learned. You need to supply the activation energy for the reaction to take place. Other fires or "sparks" of typically burning wood or metal, can be a source, but you can accomplish the same thing with heat alone(autoignition). We probably all have fond memories of seeing flames once, while attempting to cook on a stove or in an oven.

You can lengthen telomeres. There are also animals which regularly reproduce asexually(not sure why I wrote hermaphrodite above...). Offers them an advantage in terms of increasing their population. We just need to be smart whenever using this same ability for ourselves. Honestly, in terms of society impact, cloning is likely to take a far back seat compared with different forms of same sex procreation. Doesn't make sense to stress too much about it.
