  1. Others are not seeing "morphing features" in the provided videos. All they see is a blurry object for which there are a number of alternative explanations available. It certainly isn't taboo to discuss what you may have captured on film. As soon as you state that they are "morphing features" that is when you need to provide support. Otherwise it is simply an unfounded belief. I could assert that they are the servants of His Noodliness and you would not be able to refute me as you lack evidence to the contrary. It is the presentation of evidence for or against something that allows scientific discussions to proceed.
  2. There are feedback loops, but it ultimately comes down to life doing all the adapting. Life feeds on itself, literally as well as figuratively.
  3. Expansion vs achievable velocity issue for the star dust. You have to be careful with ascribing emotions to inanimate objects. It says more about the way your brain works than anything else. Your brain seeks patterns, but to various extents we can reproduce many of these features artificially. Static being the simplest, though features of the others are possible as well. We can direct lightning, simulate tornadoes, etc. There's even been research towards creating contained tornadoes as well.
  4. This is my take on the situation as well. It is also possible for males(sperm) to remain infectious for ~7 weeks even after they have beaten it. Best bet is combat via common sense methods to reduce transmission. It will burn itself out if given time to do so.
  5. I've heard of the reverse being done in the case of Rabies. Not sure on how the Ebola virus would be impacted though.
  6. Symptoms won't show up immediately. Month long quarantines would be the only certain way.
  7. Any chance they paid you at a reduced rate during your trial period?

I really don't find it so. There is research out there in support. Main issue is the omnipresent background level. Difficult to research without ensuring a ton of controls. We're not talking about the higher levels produced via nuclear reactions, but instead people ending up at levels lower than background. Was a realistic concern when I was still serving aboard a submarine.
  9. Just so long as you don't mind spending more energy making the hydrogen and are a really careful driver. Though I'm sure no mode of transportation reliant on hydrogen gas has ever suffered any issues.
  10. Yeah, I'm sure there is a sound psychological reason. If you take a look at some of the cloudcuckoolander pages out there you'll see the same sort of thing taken to an extreme. Well, it is fairly easy to search the thread. Granted you don't want to have to do that for every other line, but it isn't impossible. It is the misspelled names and whatnot that pose a problem. Easy thing to perceive as an insult to yourself or others, whether or not it was deliberate. ie. Joan Cuthbur quoted it suggests to me that you That kind of craziness. Probably should mention I don't find the original "quotes" to be a problem at all. It is when the page is an eyesore and the names are messed up. Must have been changed at some point. All I've seen it ever do is allow you to store quotes from different posts and reply to them both at once. ie. Hit MultiQuote for one post, hit MultiQuote for a second post, Click "Reply to 2 quoted post(s)". I generally do Quote button by default so people know whom I'm responding to, then individual sections quoted following that(either via Quote button or copy/paste wrapped in quote tags). Sometimes switching to @OP: or @Bob: if I need to direct my response. At least we're talking as a group about this, nice to see.
  11. I recently had the same thing with a forgotten Leyden jar. Thought I had something growing in it at first.
  12. That kind of thing is understandable though. For those cases you can tell they at least made an effort or they have a valid reason. I don't know. It is just annoying to see repeatedly and I don't like knowing that my own temper(and others) is going to get in the way of good discussion. In theory we should all be able to respond rationally regardless but this isn't realistic. We're going to end up annoyed by names being misspelled or text being hard to read.
  13. Would it be possible to add a rule requiring the usage of the quote function? Mostly concerned with ensuring proper and accurate attribution of previous remarks. Goes a long ways toward discussion clarity. Obviously there may be software out there unable to support it and the occasional mishap in the coding, but at least an effort would have been made.
  14. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/us/products/exoskeleton/FORTIS.html At least as photographed it looks cool, just a bit more practical unless acid blooded Aliens are an occupational hazard.
  15. There probably is going to be some version coming out(though nowhere near Iron Man levels). Weight levels have gotten ridiculous as of late and we're reaching the limits of what purely human bodies can support for long periods(especially with modern physical fitness levels). I've been hearing about versions for use in industrial environments as well. Should be interesting to see how the technology develops.
  16. The sky is blue due to our atmosphere scattering the light. Us not hitting the Sun has nothing to do with charge and everything to do with our velocity. How do you think satellites orbit? Same concept.

    Radiation

It can be. Vitamin D production and to stimulate your immune system.
  18. Ramps would not have been that hard to work with. All you would need to do is walk down using a basic pulley to translate the force. Set it up in stages so you minimize the risk of a runaway block injuring/killing people. Could have been made functionally similar to a modern conveyor belt. In strictly geological terms can you provide evidence for geysers with the needed output? Also if they lifted the water again, then we are back to using muscle power. They could have filled buckets with sand just as well as water for that matter. If it was any distance then you are also talking about aqueducts to move the water along and we would see evidence of them as well especially since there is more than the one construction site to consider. Side note: We really can't rely on personal interpretations of ancient text. Humans are terrible about seeing what they want to see.
  19. I think it is the Large Milkweed bug. There is also a Milkweed Mimic Assassin Bug out there(whose search got me looking for what it was mimicking). edit: Boxelder bug can have a similar appearance as well. and Corizus hyoscyami actually look even more like the photo. There are way too many bugs out there dressing up for Halloween.
  20. What temperature are you cooling the air down to and which gas are you planning to liquify?
  21. How, did I miss this... oh, that date. When I appeared in a hospital room and we celebrate my appearance annually, that explains it. We need fusion power to work first. Then we can discuss economics of mining and shipping. Da. Is getting there.
  22. They would need some means of getting the water higher than the height to which they desired to move the blocks to. A geyser would be a very very slow method. Honestly I could see a suggestion of pumps or aqueducts as being far more plausible. Honestly, considering they obtained the wood for the boats and mortar, I can't see why they wouldn't have employed it as necessary in combination with sledges and lubrication. Maybe even use a simple carved stone pulley(fixed to ground) in the process. Would allow you to utilize gravity instead of fighting against it and make the work safer as well.
  23. I know personally I tend to ignore longer threads unless I see that someone besides OP has posted. Either OP is talking to themselves or they are engaged in a rapid fire discussion. Obviously there are exceptions, those threads where the thread starter is presenting ongoing research(located well outside of Speculations).
  24. Has anyone ever come across any studies as to the impact the 6-sided die's introduction had on preexisting games and/or cultures? Became curious after looking into Senet with its uneven probability distribution(throwing sticks).
  25. I could see a discussion of possibilities(ball lightning and thermal inversion mirages) spring to mind, but jumping to living plasma is a bit much. Without applying the scientific method all you have is literally speculation and you cannot advance beyond that point. Someone else can speculate otherwise and the two or more speculations cancel each other out as neither is backed by facts.
