  1. We can imagine designing an AI that then goes on to create something original.
  2. :'( Reading about someone else on Telus with a similar situation. https://forum.telus.com/t5/Internet-TV-Home-Phone/Can-NOT-access-website-with-Telus-network/td-p/66185
  3. Can you try via this link instead? https://goo.gl/dKp1xU Trying to see if its a dns problem.
  4. The energy to reset it will be more than it provides.
  5. There's parallels to the more relatable strain. A stressed board for example. Though curved it isn't responsible for that curvature.
  6. Alright, but you get to take care of the horse.
  7. We can only hope.
  8. You can have straight frequency too. f = 1/t Logically went away from needing motion for our clocks. Easier to use something that cycles between two states.
  9. Before it reaches the event horizon, it still has a chance to escape.
  10. This recently came out: www.inverse.com/article/40088-charles-darwin-abominable-mystery-solved-angiosperms-gymnosperms I'd say generally unless there's a mass die off or isolation the same novelty won't give the same results evolving a second time. To contrast, something like the Saber Tooth trait is a good example of one that evolved multiple times at different points. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saber-toothed_cat
  11. Not my area, but Invertase might work here.
  12. The closer a simulation approximates reality, the slower it is going to go. There have been AIs learning in game simulations though. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/03/microsoft-minecraft-aix-artificial-intelligence/
  13. Authorities are just concerned that the lack of evidence may be an indication that something else is going on. You can setup cameras disconnected from the internet and immune to tampering. Powders are even simpler if you want to go low tech. Do try talking with friends and family, if not a psychiatrist.
  14. Steel is itself an alloy(iron and carbon). I think basically percentages of the metals that go into it will determine properties. Temperatures should play a role too.
  15. Must be looking with the opposite eye and brain is selecting the second eye's input to discard. Optometrist could give more insight. Lucky with those Magic Eye stereograms. I've never been able to get them to work for me.
  16. I don't know if apes are tracked, but we see chromosomal abnormalities regularly in our own species. You would have a similar situation to the earlier one. We're occupying the intelligent species niche. Resources are no longer plentiful and uncontested as they once were.
  17. Probably does on occasion, but finds itself in a highly competitive environment now. Apes seeking the low hanging fruit.
  18. Not all are setup to do it, but is possible for programs to find bugs within themselves.
  19. Falling into a common trap, thinking the velocity is causing some mechanical or biological effect. Instead Time, itself, is center stage. That is what effects the clock, you, plants, decay, you name it. Less time passes and how much you age will reflect that fact. We discovered Time, we invented Time Keeping. Time exists independent of us. What the other frame sees is going to depend on whether the one is headed towards or away. Away slower, towards faster. For you it always passes at the same rate. Time runs marginally slower on Earth actually due to gravitational time dilation. Not a huge difference though.
  20. I could see it maybe working. Need to price out lighting costs. Going to be the main one after everything is setup. OT: Was tried in the past. Cruisers, Army Nuclear Power Program. More recently Rusia is looking to dust off the concept(land mobile). They offer advantages but not right for every situation, IMO. Safety, cost, etc.
  21. Less time can pass for one individual vs another.
  22. Think of the time span as shrinking. See the same thing with distance. The faster you move towards somewhere the shorter the distance you end up crossing. A hurting head is a good sign here. Lot to take in.
  23. If the temps are high enough, composting can kill pathogens. Main issue is keeping our plants supplied(and us fed), while needing more as our population grows. Artificial sources have helped a great deal there.
  24. Time travel to the past, no. Forward is easy though. Just wait for it
