Normally people are caught because they are acting suspicious trying to hide things. In this case you figure out a way to fool the system you could walk out without arousing suspicion.

Possibly this^ Something like half a page of locked threads at one point. Wanted to state how it could be seen as unfair from the outside looking in, fully acknowledging that most of the threads are junk and did have at least a chance and typically a couple of moderators involved. I considered reporting or PM'ing previously but ultimately decided the junk threads weren't worth the time expenditure then. This thread came up and seemed a reasonable location to mention something.

??? This would be more along the lines of doing away with checkout lines. Most feel the same way about human interaction. Should see a corresponding increase in positions that more directly help customers. Supposed to be starting public trials this year. Be interesting to see how well it does when confronted with real behaviors of shoppers and shoplifters.

I think OP is a cloudcuckoolander. That being said, this bit: matched something I had been noticing and growing concerned about. Threads being "Move-Locked". Threads moved to Speculations and locked down 1-2 posts later.
-
Does bother me sometimes when I see a thread closed soon after a move. I don't know what a good solution is though. Know generally OP seems to be at least given a chance to respond and could certainly appeal the decision.

Wanted to address the question of "Why doesn't...", with a couple examples of preexisting generalized solutions.

I know there is something in regular use, but don't know all the details. You can find a few of the ways they use to remotely detonate enemy ied's online. http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2011-02/new-device-uses-electromagnetic-pulses-detonate-ieds-safe-distance You can find a patent for an aerial vehicle as well. https://www.google.com/patents/US20140062754 Jammers are also a common countermeasure.

Processor speed is actually given as a frequency.

Before reading I was really relieved to get away from the "Everybody knows Dave" meme on Reddit... p.s. No scream shots please.

There is IBM's older commercial promising the same via RFID to consider. The people and time freed up could go to more productive uses. I suspect we are more likely to work side-by-side with the technology rather than be outright replaced by it. McDonald's rolling out table service is a good example of where a company isn't cutting jobs via automation and not doing anything productive with the freed workers. In some cases I'm sure time demands will support, "Pick from the limited menu and get it yourself from the slot" eateries. For regular dining I doubt that will be a winning strategy though. This also means Amazon believes a combination will work best going forward. Physical locations requiring human labor to keep up with, coupled with their online presence.

Look at hiring a fabricator or filing a patent. This is more the place to have your ideas put through a thresher. We can talk about feasibility and practicality if you feel comfortable providing details, otherwise not much we can do for you. If initial cost is a factor, look at arranging private meetings to professionally present at least some aspects of your invention. It isn't that others don't want to assist you, but that they want to make sure it is worth their time and possibly money involved.

Have to wonder, did baby Newtown have a cradle?

Selling tree parasites makes a great fundraiser though. I don't know about work, but at one's home should be fine.

I definitely recall it being a lychrel.

So, I was riding the bus the other day and the weather turned icky. As luck would have it someone had left behind a very nice overcoat...

I'm concerned that suggests a three-way mixing of Nuclear DNA.

I found AI for Game Developers, decent. Don't recall there being an excessive amount of code.

Yeah, the problem is much of the videos are not fact or evidence based, the exact opposite of good science. Alchemists arguing about the mixture for the Philosopher's Stone. Been at it forever and in another hundred years will probably still be at it. As to the forum, there's a rule system and nobody is forcing anyone to be here. You want whatever benefits you feel like you get out of this association then you'll be asked to follow the rules. That's as fair a deal as you will ever see.

Our own research is so relatively recent it is hard to say. Anytime we needed a sudden or large demand there would probably be issues. Then again there's also alternatives which are less intensive. "Dave, you need to stop taking more than two minutes in the shower." "But Dad, I need to look good to impress Susie. She's super cute and she's already apprenticed to maintain the evacuated chamber at the plant." "Alright, 5 minutes, but no more. You know how it is in the morning. The heat stored underground can only supply so much. The TEG couldn't maintain power for the computer yesterday. No computer, no Skype." "Sheez. Okay, Dad."

Fresnel lenses can actually melt steel: Interesting to speculate on at any rate. Imagining what would have happened had our ancestors went along the tech tree a different route.
-
I was thinking of the solar cookers, evaporative cooling, melting, water heating/boiling. Society would be different, but not impossible to imagine.
-
Do you have a link to a solid news article on this? Generally sounds like the various items stored beneath the wtc were fine.

There's solar thermal. Could have developed along those lines.

Technical issues, somewhat obvious one with an ever-growing blockchain. Less obvious one with the possibility to irreversibly lose money. Chargebacks also have their place in my opinion. The algorithm itself is decent, with most attacks in the very hypothetical range. Human factors, defacto backing via the sometimes shifty Exchanges. Prominent maybe hacking maybe inside job scandals. Sometimes operating as an ill advised escrow service. Severe declines in value though to be fair equally meteoric rises. In some cases people are stealing processing power to do mining. The equivalent of an illegal gold mine and using your resources to boot. I suspect we will end up seeing a variety of digital currencies to satisfy individuals, groups and governments; looking for different options.

Technical review of written material
Endy0816 replied to cpuman's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Fame and fortune are always valid reasons to do something. Entirely possible to write a book and put it up for free as well for that matter. I would probably look at finding a local contact and if not that then perhaps corresponding with someone at a University. Contact information tends to be fairly easy to find for faculty.
