Gobekli Tepe - why was it built and then buried?
Endy0816 replied to Robittybob1's topic in Religion
Gobekli Tepe consists of multiple circles in the same relatively small area. Here are a couple of desert kites for comparison. I was reading one site suggesting Gobekli was built as an observatory. Thought that was a reasonable explanation for those center pillars. -
Antimatter Future in top 100 movie trailers on IMDB
Endy0816 replied to mylesohowe's topic in The Lounge
^Definitely. More generally documentaries are less factual these days. Have to be careful what you pick up from them. We can go ahead and discuss the practical issues surrounding production, storage and use of antimatter; if that is what OP is after though. That is a reasonable discussion on a science site. -
Gobekli Tepe - why was it built and then buried?
Endy0816 replied to Robittybob1's topic in Religion
Some sections look like they could have served as corrals. Central area was all circular hallways and restricted entry though. Sounds like it was filled in with refuse. Not sure desecration, some obscure religious reason or locals using it for dumping. Was active for a good long while though. -
Most efficient method for learning to touchtype?
Endy0816 replied to StringJunky's topic in The Lounge
Can also practice via air typing. ABC's, The quick brown fox, etc. Same here with a cardboard box. -
Maybe developed along with the spine itself?

I believe in a giant Flying Spaghetti Monster. Free flowing alcohol and companionship await you. Obviously many afterlives offer similar amenities, so it is best to comparison shop before making a final decision.

Yeah, anything external can work to varying degrees. Not going to find a function that can do it though. Outputs have to be independent of each other.

Londinium, nicest city in Caesar III Whole region of Florida was only relatively recently settled. Last few hundred years really. Interesting to see how things have changed looking at old maps, aerial views, plat maps and photographs. See neighborhoods appear, vanish, whole bodies of water being shifted about and expanded. Interesting stuff. I'd like to think we can learn to safely coexist with them. My hope anyways. It would be nice to see that we can live long-term with just one dangerous animal that is noncompetitive with us in every other way.

New Signage at my work: Entice, a politically correct way of saying gators find your ankles attractive.

Not sure there is a direct use for your skill, though augmenting traditional research methods is big right now. Best advice would to try and find overlap between your training and what you wish to accomplish, then capitalize on that. Generally there can be many reasons to study, financial wealth is one, but not the only one. Knowledge, fame, etc.

Wiggling my fingertips has helped me to rouse myself a couple of times now. Do come up with some weird imaginings before recognizing the issue though

Or gate very roughly. Future advances in parallel processing could solve the time issue.

If you want something, you may well need to give something else up. Just the way the world works. Drug test is more likely. Hard to accuse your pee of dishonesty.

@Op: Is this in relation to a programming class?

I'm not being glib. People can and will hold you to what you sign. That simple. If it counts as insurance fraud, sure. You have to have signed to the effect that you won't and they would need proper evidence, but if they have all that. UCMJ Whole huge stripping of rights you have to agree to in-order to get a job. Generally... Note: Late here, I may not be 110% coherent.

Mitochondria in Sperm Defects?

There are times when it can be illegal, but you can still quite legally fire someone if it isn't one of those times. You are making it their business if you want them to pay part of your insurance. No longer a private decision(using this word very loosely here in respect to the difficulty involved with change). Was talking about standard enlistment contract. Far more restrictive than anything else out there. Freedoms have limits: http://www.hrexaminer.com/is-there-free-speech-at-work/

Coercion in legal terms, applies to a threat of an illegal action being visited on someone. Within limits, it is not illegal to fire or to refuse to hire. Main issue is that companies(and to some degree their employees) have to pay for that insurance. It might not seem like it impacts the company or fellow employees, but it does. Where are you seeing this at? My main concern with support for some of the higher profile whistle blowers is that it undermines contract law. Our entire military is under contract and is sworn to a piece of paper. We do need better and broader whistle blower protections, but likewise people need to utilize existing protections rather than leaking to the internet. If justified, contracts can be declared null and void, we just need a system in place to handle such cases. People do own companies or shares of companies, so to some extent I can see the company having some rights as an extension. Though I still think it should have to meet other obligations; register for the draft, jury duty, etc. if it wants to exercise those rights.
