5614 Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Is it like a new VIP kinda system? and is it just swansont, skye, mokele and matt grime? Also I'm assuming that it's the only new thing introduced, or at least I haven't noticed anything new.
Dave Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 It's a system that's been set up so that people who are experts in their field and contribute a lot to the forums can be given some kind of recognition. We literally created the usergroup today - there'll probably be an announcement about it at some point. We still need to announce the warning system properly as well.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 I was always hoping we'd have this (sort of). http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4487
Dak Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 should it not say what theyre resident experts in? (i assume its phisics, herpetology and microbiology for swanson, mokele and skye respectively)?
Sayonara Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 should it not say what theyre resident experts in? (i assume its phisics, herpetology and microbiology for swanson, mokele and skye respectively)? I made the generic group to check how the image and custom title would look. The overall plan is to make groups for the major subjects. Since the mods don't necessarily know the details of a discussion in-depth, we're hoping that by making "expert" roles with some super-human abilities, persistant trolls and idiots can be more easily and quickly stopped (but of course members should still use the warning system). And of course it's nice to recognise people who have shared their in-depth knowledge with everyone.
Dak Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 but of course members should still use the warning systemwhat warning system? the one that mods can use, or can us mere mortals warn each other now?
Sayonara Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Sorry, I meant the "report this post" thingy. Early morning and et cetera.

Phi for All Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 I was always hoping we'd have this (sort of).http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4487 Be careful what you wish for... over and over and over.
5614 Posted May 11, 2005 Author Posted May 11, 2005 What's the difference between a mod and a super mod??? Is it (which it seemingly is) the same thing just a different name?
Tom Mattson Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Wow. I woke up this morning and saw that I have a bright, shiny new star. Many thanks to the SFN staff. I'm honored!
Dave Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Traditionally, a moderator is assigned to a particular forum or section. Super moderators can moderate all forums, and have some control over users (banning, editing signatures, etc).
Sayonara Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 That makes me strangely nervous for some reason...what qualifies one as an Idiot? People who just talk gibberish, no matter what you respond with.
Mokele Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Yay, I have a star! And super-human abilities, apparently! ::Flexes and poses::
Obnoxious Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Yay, I have a star! And super-human abilities, apparently! ::Flexes and poses:: Soooo...Can I make a wish upon you? Jimmny says it'll come true!
