May any one explain me this technique?

This is an electronic device separates gases under high temperature and pressure according to their sizes or densities, may any one explains my this technique in details or recommend my anything explains it?

There was a doctor told me that, too. But this was applied by a junior student at Intel ISEF competition and she received a top award for it.
