aaronmyung Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Hey guys, I stumbled upon these forums while looking for some help... I've registered, and hope to become a regular poster here. Anyways, How would I show that the following mathematical expressions are dimensionally equivalent? a) 1/2mv^2 and mgh b) W and 1/2mv^2 Thank you so mcuh for your help. Cya!
Primarygun Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 They have the same units. To show it mathematically, convert the first one by v^2=u^2+2as Assume u=0 or v=0. For the second one, Work=Fs=mas=(m)(1/2)(v^2)=KE Assume u=0 or v=0.
aaronmyung Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 thanks Thats really helped me understand this a lot better, your an absolute legend !
