How do you feel about science crowdfunding?

Hey hey,

So as a person working in science myself I know all the struggle that surrounds science funding and getting hold of grants. So if there was a way of obtaining money for a research project via crowdfunding how many of you would go for it it?

Also, we all know how governmental funding bodies often prefer "safe" projects that will most likely be able to generate a paper in the end over risky but, potentially, innovative ones. So again if there was a platform that would allow you to gather the funds for the projects that you always wanted to set up but always kind of knew that it's pointless because you will never get the funds for it, would you use this opportunity? And if yes, what kind of projects would those be?

Trying to set up a platform of this kind so any thoughts, ideas or feedback would be highly appreciated
