The Bus Number

While visiting a small town in the United States, I lost my overcoat in a bus. When I reported the matter to the bus company I was asked the number of the bus. Though I didn't remember the exact number I did remember that the bus number had a certain peculiarity about it. The number plate showed the bus number was a perfect square and also if the plate was turned upside-down, the number remained a perfect square.

The bus company informed me that they had bus numbers from 1 to 500. From this, I got the number of the bus.

Can you find out what's ths bus number?

And the first nice answer I can think of with a cursive script needs buses running to 1000. Still not perfect - but that is the Singaporeans fault for using nice digit one's

I 9 6 which is 14 ² and if the Bus number plate is rotated it will become 9 6 I which is 31 ² and therefore the Solution

Yes, the bus is the one with your coat on it.

When you find your coat, you can read the number off the bus.

 

 

That stuff about upside down numbers doesn't uniquely identify the bus, but your coat does.
