I got a hdmi cable for my brother for christmas to connect the playstation to his laptop but the connector wasn't long enough to make contact with the pins on the laptop. Maybe you have a faulty laptop or cable See that's what I thought when I first bought the hdmi cable sure one size fits all right?? He has a faulty cable that works the laptop isn't standard though it has a hdmi input graphics card which is rare and the cable he has at the moment came with the laptop.
