AxoNbaNd Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Hello! Could someone tell me in what ways does the moon affect us? I am particularly interested in direct effects on our body or psyche, but also effects on our planet might be interesting. Thank to you all!!
Strange Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I am not aware of any direct effects on us. However, the moon causes tides and they have an idea fife the on some organisms on or near coasts.
Bender Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 - It allows us to see at night (at least, when it is visible)- it causes moonburn for some people.- then there are a lot of indirect and cultural effects- wikipedia has an article on it, summarised by this quote: Several extensive literature reviews and meta-analyses found no correlation between the lunar cycle and human biology or behavior.
pridgeAH89 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Without the moon the earth would have a constant spin therefore a day would always be 24 hours, but the moon has slowed down the day considerably since it's inception. Keep in mind that moon is also moving away from us every year by a few inches. The moon causes the tides to rise and fall which have a direct effect on how oceans flow. Ocean flow creates help create vast aquatic ecosystems, which in return help humans(via oxygen production and food source).
MigL Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Once a month, my nails and teeth grow much longer, my body becomes covered with coarse hair, and I get the urge to howl... 1
Moontanman Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 The full moon is my favorite time roam the forest, I,ve done it since i was very little i would sneak out of the house and just wonder through the woods.
J.C.MacSwell Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Once a month, my nails and teeth grow much longer, my body becomes covered with coarse hair, and I get the urge to howl... Probably a genetic adaptation to avoid moonburn...nothing to worry about 1
Commander Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 It will be interesting to know exactly how many Sunrises and Sunsets will I see in a Year if I reside on the Moon !
Janus Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 It will be interesting to know exactly how many Sunrises and Sunsets will I see in a Year if I reside on the Moon ! 12 in most years, with 13 occurring occasionally. There are 12.36 lunar days to the year. (The length of the lunar day is equal to the period between full moons we see from the Earth.) 1

Argent Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Was there not some thought that the tides may have played a part in the origin of life? Organic chemicals would be concentrated in tidal pools by evaporation and this could help the reactions that would lead to life. What I don't get about that is the chemicals would get flushed out at the next high tide.
