I read somewhere that the words "In God we trust" are inscribed on the Dollar Note. The American Establishment has flushed God Almighty down the gutter long ago. They are singularly atheist and their megalomania borders on extreme mental perversion.

The whole drama of President Trump taking oath with his hands on Lincolns' Bible is not going to fool anybody. The President is not above the Establishment.

Superstition and fairy tales have no place in politics anyway.

The religious right have quite a lot of power in US politics. Reality seems at odds with your statement.

And I'm calling the Metaphor Police. You shouldn't be mixing them like that.

The Religious Right is a synonym for White Supremacist. It is only a label. They practice all sorts of blasphemy whenever possible. Since when Americans are being fooled by the so called Religious Right only their God knows. If one looks at the deeds of this "Religious Right" in the last 17 years one would know the reason for the rise of Islamic Radicalism in the world.

The religious left also has quite a lot of power in US politics.

But not nearly on the scale of the right. And remember that the religious right used to be Democrats, when the Dems were considered less godless.

Liberal religious people usually recognize the need for a separation of church and state, where conservative religious people tend to insist their beliefs be part of the law of the land. Liberal Christians are basically "Love thy neighbor as thyself" type people, which runs counter to more fundamental conservative dogma.

There are a lot of used to be Democrats.

What would you call an Eisenhower Republican these days? That's where I learned about America's real strength.

Posted

I'd call them Republicans.

Don't look a thing like I remember. You're talking about mean, vicious, isolationist people who oppose science, diversity, public education, freedom of choice, and just want to use socialism to get the poor and middle class to pay for their airports, roads, and seaports.

Ike was the one who warned the real Republicans not to do what they're doing now, remember? Don't let industry get in bed with government Dwight Eisenhower, that's the guy I'm talking about.

I think you're confused.

Your opinion and you are welcome to it. He also warned about the scientific technological elite dominating public policy. Why do liberals always forget that warning?

Whats the difference?

I disagree with this statement, mostly because preferring people who look like you isn't the same thing as capitalized White Supremacy. Also there are issues like abortion that are much more nuanced by doctrine than by heritage.

Trump seems to have offended many in the Establishment. You just dont remove the Attorney General like he is a naughty boy/girl of Trump's class. These people are pillars of Democracy. Trump may be a good businessman. The Attorney General was not a non performing serviceman. Trump needs to know, it is Government post he is holding, no CEO of some mood swing business. Everyone is thinking, who goes next. Does Trump want to change the definition of the word "justice"?. I think it is duty of the people of the "Old World" to beat some sense into America.

America is a plutocracy evolving into a dictatorship with a dictator having no respect for the post he holds. Whenever movies will be made refering to this period of American history there will be lots of women in the film surrounding Trump because he is very attractive.

Because context matters. It's not about forgetting. It's about understanding.

Eisenhower was balanced and largely protective of the citizens. He fought back against those who would hoodwink the public, he stood up for humanistic principles, and he also trusted scientific evidence and data (as opposed to prioritizing opinion or feedback from the ignorant and ill-informed).

One can highlight the risks of listening to only a tiny handful of individuals (the "elite") while still in parallel respecting the scientific process and method of minimizing bias from our view of the world.

"Love of liberty means the guarding of every resource that makes freedom possible—from the sanctity of our families and the wealth of our soil to the genius of our scientists." --Dwight D. Eisenhower
