muskan Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 If atmospheric pressure is 1.01*10^5 Pa,how much pressure will the air exert on a window of area 100*50 cm.
hypervalent_iodine Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 What do you think? We need you to show so,e effort and outline where you are struggling before help can be given.
muskan Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 I think we must have the weight of air and then we can find it.but how? I don't know it. Please help.
Endy0816 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Normally the question would have you looking for Force... 1N/1m^2 = 1Pa
studiot Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Normally the question would have you looking for Force... 1N/1m^2 = 1Pa The point about force might be a good one, Endy. However such calculation does rather assume there is a perfect vacuum on one side of the window. The question needs clarification to answer properly.
Externet Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 The same pressure as on the other side of the window.
swansont Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 The point about force might be a good one, Endy. However such calculation does rather assume there is a perfect vacuum on one side of the window. The question needs clarification to answer properly. No, the question is fine. If it's vacuum or atmosphere, it has no effect on the pressure on the side in question. The same pressure as on the other side of the window. I have several vacuum systems that beg to differ with you.
Endy0816 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Yeah, does look like it was simply misworded: https://socratic.org/questions/if-atmospheric-pressure-is-1-01-10-is-to-power-5-pa-then-how-much-force-does-the I think the question reads better using psi(pounds-force per square inch). Just my own musings though. I have several vacuum systems that beg to differ with you. At home too. Thankfully the difference tends to be small and the equalization fast.
Sriman Dutta Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 If the question is read carefully, it will be found that the question demands the PRESSURE exerted by air , given that the atmospheric PRESSURE is 1.013*10^5 Pa.
