A kind of job in which you one read a book?

Not sure which forum is best to post this, but

 

I have a question in mind: as a student, what would be the best job in which you can read book? not necessarily study, but reading is enough.

what do you think? intuitively I thought of working for uni library, but what would be needed in there? its either putting back books to the shelves or being in the IT team for trouble shooting, which doesnt fit lol

Or work as a book reviewer (you could start off by blogging your reviews).

I believe fiction publishers employ people to read and comment on manuscripts submitted to them. I have no idea how one goes about getting such a job. I suspect many in the role do so in addition to their "day job". Perhaps Strange's suggestion of proof reader would be one route.

 

My next comment is meant to be positive criticism. In any job involved in reading you will be expected to comment in some way on what you have read. That means you need to make improvements in your own writing. I counted ten stylistic and grammatical errors in your post. That's a lot for a ninety two word post.

For me, the key would be to find a job where you get read good books. If you have to read any book presented for publication, I suspect you read quantity, but not much quality.

This is not what I mean. I meant a job in which I can read whatever I want. as proof reader someone would select the material I read. What I had in mind was a job that is not too intensive and that is not a field job that requires you to stay for certain time of the day but does not necessarily keep you busy all of that period, if you know what I mean. Lets say, something like internet chat helper for the internet company/or for the bank. You might not need to be at service all the time, but rather only when someone comes to the website and needs help. This might not be the perfect example (as I have not tried that job and it could be very intensive) though.

You want a job where the work is light enough to let you read when you want and work as little as possible? Good luck, you can't work for me.

What about the lube gun specialist at Grease Monkey who only works on the pre-80s cars? Science tour guide at the Creationist Museum? Bowling ball repairperson?

I do it regularly. Mostly convention security work graveyard shift is when it is truly allowed.

 

Need people to stay awake and the reading, playing games, checking forums, watching movies and whatever else; all helps with that. You have to know how to balance it though. Have to be distracted enough from being alone in a static environment late at night and still catch the odd sound or movement that might indicate a problem.

 

@OP: I would suggest checking local security companies and see what they would be okay with. No harm in asking and may find what you are looking for.
