I am doing a project about finding a waste that can absorb oil the best and i want to create oleophillic yet hydrophobic coating for it to better enhance its oil absorbing property. I saw on the net that adding three valent chromnium salt to form a chromnium coating and dry it. Then adding a bridging agent with polar or nonpolar moecular structure to it will do so. I want to ask are there better ways to create such coating without using really expensive machinery or vrare chemicals. And what is the principle behind the one i found and your recommended ones. I need it by 18/3 and i just saw this net so please please help me thank you so much
