Guest Chrogg Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hello all, I'm trying to locate some information on how the temperature of steam would vary in a 1.8m column. I know the average temperature, but a rough idea of the variation / profile would be very helpful. Either an equation or two, or actual data. Thanks very much, Chris
YT2095 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 you don`t state at what pressure or the ambient external temp or the thermal conductivity of the column material, there`s probably other things the Physics guys will want to know also.
Guest Chrogg Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Do I need to state the pressure? AFAIK the pressure will affect the absolute temperature of the steam, but not temperature distribution along it (or not that much?). The column material is assumed to be Al (thermal conductivity = 221 W/mK) - it's actually the wall of a falling film evaporator. Overall heat transfer coefficient for the wall to black liquor is 6682.5 W/m^2K. Cheers Chris
