quickquestion Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) You can't change other's views. If your friends post their selfies, instead of scorning at them press the like button. You have got either of the two ways: change your view or fall into unnecessary depressions. You should accept the harsh truth that each person on this world have their unique tastes and individual personality. I'm not going to put a like on the very thing that offends me. That is like a girlfriend cheating on you, then she comes home and you say "hey...no problem. I dont mind. In fact I like it. Do it some more.". They are purposely ignoring me and being rude to me by posting selfies and ignoring my communications...and I'm not going to enable their rude behavior by putting a like to it. You should accept the harsh truth that each person on this world have their unique tastes and individual personality. Don't know about the people you're talking about, but the people I'm talking about don't seem very unique and individual to me, they just seem like a horde of millenials who shame anyone who doesn't think like the group. So don't go to that school, your choice; focus on now not yesterday. The school was the metaphor for The World. I wish I could go on to another world, believe me I do. But I'm stuck in this garbage world. Edited April 12, 2017 by quickquestion

quickquestion Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) They must have certain reasons behind their ignorance. It may be that they find your view quite offensive. None of them even know my views because I make a point not to reveal much to them. You see, I know how judgemental and bigoted most people are to things outside their comfort zone. They would rather post sloppy postings of how drunk they got last night in broken-urban slang. And I have no choice but to pretend to be cool with it. Because apparently, making half-drunk posts about BS is more important than communicating with another human being in this degenerate mainstream Facebook culture we have nowadays. Sriman Dutta Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Here I want to bring to your notice two important aspects of your personality. Firstly, you have said that you are depressed. So I assume that when you are typing the posts, you are under a state of depression. However, you have not shown impulsiveness when you are faced with criticisms and arguments. You have not given negative votes to the posters. This shows that you are calm and not irritated with the world to the extreme. Secondly,I want to ask you some straight forward questions. Do you wish to lead a good life with your friends and family? Do you feel lonely and unhappy due to lack of human relations? Do your inner conscience frets against your friends' callous attitude and wish to have a normal life with good people who really care about you? Answer them and judge your answers and let me know what you find.

I am irritated with the world to the extreme, but villians learn to tone themselves down, to avoid punishment by society. It's like how comic villians, or james bond villians, appear calm and civilized most of the time, and not hulk raging 24/7. Secondly,I want to ask you some straight forward questions. Do you wish to lead a good life with your friends and family? Do you feel lonely and unhappy due to lack of human relations? Answer them and judge your answers and let me know what you find. Yeah and the thing of it is, many the friends who I thought were my friends don't act very friendly to me and/or betray me eventually, so I have to reconcile that with myself and learn to trust noone, in this realm approaching grimpunk/cyberpunk dystopia we live in today.
Velocity_Boy Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 some days my depression gets real bad. and i lose the motivation to do anything. I think that if earth wasn't such a garbage world the quality of science would increase. Science wouldn't even be a "thing" just a basic piece of conversation like music. Instead of "Oh, did you listen to the latest Pop tunes" people would discuss equations with each other. I remember googling something and it showed scientific evidence that depression decreases intelligence in the brain. When i am depressed I dont feel as smart...and the sad thing is that during these moments I dont even care. I dont remember what search terms I put exactly so I can't find the link. basically, i hate this world and i wish for a better world. basically if i was a character on the big bang theory or Eureka i would be an anti-social villian. Depression can be caused by a chemical imabalance in the brain. More specifically, an insufficient level of certain neurotransmitters that, to put it in layman's terms, make you feel "good." The chemical Serotonin is a prime example, as are Dopamine and GABA. There are a plethora of 2nd generation anti-depressant medications available with an MD's prescription, than have fewer and less severe side effects than the earlier anti-depression meds. You have not doubt heard of some of these meds, such as Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, and Paxil. They have helped millions of people to increase their quality of life. I think this might possible be an option you might consider looking into. I myself take Paxil, and have for about five years. I can say it has made a significant positive impact on my enjoyment of life. I hope you feel better. Meanwhile, there ARE places where people talk about science all the time and NOT the latest Miley Cyrus video. Right here, amigo! Cheers. 1

Well, its not the anti-depressants that are fatal for me, I have minimal side-effects from those (other than the side-effect of building up a tolerance and it not helping my depression much.) My ideal world would be a mix of both science and the metaphorical "Miley-Cyrus", actually I view Philosophy as a kind of "casual-social discourse" along the lines of relaxation and pleasure. So my ideal world would have a mix of science and philosophy, but also beautiful people. The reason I hate the world is because none of the beautiful people have any interest in any interesting topics, they just go on about stuff that wouldn't even entertain a 3 year old (at least a 3 year old of my day), and I don't fit into it anywhere, they won't even answer or respond to my messages or calls, even when I put my messages on a basic level like "How was your concert/How are you?" etc. they are very selfish and rude. It feels like I am a demon, cast to hell to deal with a bunch of disrespectful imps. Edited April 12, 2017 by quickquestion
Sriman Dutta Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I agree with you that people nowadays are more engaged to their social media than they are in their real lives. People have forgotten their real life and has taken virtual life as real. I have seen many young people who walk with their eyes glued to facebook while walking down a shopping mall. It's a nuisance. But, I can't agree that all people, I mean 100% of people whom I meet are so dull. There are quite a lot of youths who have maintained a good balance between the virtual world and the real world. It's hard to believe that none talks with you well. Haven't you got any friends? No good and caring friends?
Phi for All Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 You probably haven't noticed the pattern, but you've neatly boxed yourself in with your worldview. You have not given yourself a means of escape. Any kindness shown to you is an anomaly in your mind. You set impossible or conflicting parameters, like desiring to be accepted by beautiful people but detesting them for not having interesting thoughts. You've set a black hole in your future, an inevitable spiral into negativity with no way to avoid it. Instead, I think you need to plot a course that successfully gets you past the event horizon. Figure out a way to be successful instead of focusing on how shitty things are. You need to understand that even a shitty system is predictable. Navigation is simpler when when the path can be known. You just need to pick a path with a good destination. Right now you seem like you're cursing the quality of the road without turning off it, and you're busting through the signs that say "Bridge Out!", too busy to read them because you're complaining about the road workers.

If a friend text's me it is a real rarity and an anomaly. I doubt anyone other than my parents, one or two relatives, and a couple buddies on skype actually care about me. Also you live in a different part of the world than me, I live in America, so your view and experience of people will probably be different than mine. You probably haven't noticed the pattern, but you've neatly boxed yourself in with your worldview. You have not given yourself a means of escape. Any kindness shown to you is an anomaly in your mind. I suppose if I got rich I'd be able to buy myself some friends. My skype buddies are some of my only real friends, and they are depressed and lonely as me. But I try to help them out with favors and such so they have a chance to succeed in society. Anyway, it's hard to get rich and think big when you suck at being socially accepted. Especially when you have ads of Tai Lopez who says you can only get rich if you are good at making friends.

If you feel that you are socially unacceptable, a little personal examination might be appropriate - are you somewhere on the autistic spectrum? Even that is highly subjective. And it's only important to equally superfluous people. Sounds to me like a primary source of your current depression and extreme dissatisfaction with your life is the fact that there are some people out there you think are really cool and hip but they do not reciprocate those thoughts of you. Or maybe don't even acknowledge you? If this is the case, bro, cyoure giving them way too much power. Get new friends. Meet new people. In layman's terms, just get out more! quickquestion Posted April 15, 2017 Author Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) I'm sure "The Theory of Everything" (that movie, yes) has its flaws and inaccuracies, but I'm sure Stephen Hawking wasn't much of a socialiser himself at the time, truth be told. Stephen has a net worth of 20 million. He is a millionairre. Part of the Disease of America is that everyone hold's on to the delusion that they will someday be rich. Thus, as a group, they make very little efforts to fix group poverty, because they believe that their poverty is only a temporary condition. Thus, mentioning Stephen is irrelevant, because it implies a hypothetical scenario that someday I will be rich too, like him. The fact is, I am not rich like Stephen, thus mentioning him is totally irrelevant to me, because it assumes a hypothetical future that I will someday be rich like him, which is a low probability and not the current actual fact. It's irrelevant but, I had a friend who was very close to Stephen. You have a strange concept of what constitutes a friend. The idea of being rich and buying them is grotesque. If you feel that you are socially unacceptable, a little personal examination might be appropriate - are you somewhere on the autistic spectrum? (I am, that's why I ask - it really does help to recognise this.) It takes money to get an accurate diagnosis from a quality doctor. Thus, never being diagnosed can be a false negative, not being officially diagnosed autistic doesn't mean you are not autistic. That being said, one must wonder if autism is more on the fictitious side of things. Autists don't like flourescent lights (gives them headaches due to unsoothing frequencies), autistics don't like indoor crowds (indoor crowds are unnatural), autists dont like crowds of strangers (in Nature everyone knew their village, seeing strangers was most likely a real danger) autists like quiet and not loud noises (in Nature loud noises meant loud dangerous beasts or large natural hazards.) Seems to be "autists" are simply folk in-tune with nature and intolerant to the disease known as "city". Eeyore isn't rich, but he's more socially acceptable when he isn't such a downer to be around. His perspective is his choice, don't you think? I would rather be friends with a cartoon character than some socialite yuppie hipster of the modern age. It is hard for me to romance someone who is butt ugly for the same reason it is hard for you to eat moldy bread and pretend to enjoy it and be satisfied with it as much as a burrito. I have evolved to enjoy sexual traits which indicate health and beauty in the organism. Unfortunately, as it stands most modern organisms have the appearance of physical health and beauty, but very little in terms of mental beauty or inner beauty, creating an impasse. Now I do forget to mention I have a couple of Real friends who care about me a little. But for all intents and purposes, I am basically a Social Tesla or Steve Carrell in 40 year old virgin. I have tried expanding my AO and get met with constant and continuous fickleness and failure. It is utterly maddening. Edited April 15, 2017 by quickquestion

Phi for All Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I would rather be friends with a cartoon character than some socialite yuppie hipster of the modern age. This is readily evident in the nuance-free caricaturizations you choose to criticize. 1
Function Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 This is readily evident in the nuance-free caricaturizations you choose to criticize. I hate it when people isolate themselves from groups of people based on overgeneralised assumptions which are not even true in most cased. My brother, for example, is only 21 years old, and already starts whining about the "youth of today" and all its flaws. Parents play a way too big role in the development of "individual" opinions and insights. Luckily I've been quite immune for letting them infect my thoughts with their narowness. Bit mean to say about your own parents, no? Well perhaps I'm not all that kind but I won't change my opinion on people based on their role in my life or such ... If I say something about someone who then happens to be a friend of the person in question, I would even literally say: "that's very nice but that won't make me less honest". Ah well, perhaps it's good what I'm "doing", perhaps not. I think people should be more open to others, both in mind and in speech. Narowness and overgeneralisations must be exterminated. Nice utopia, aye?
quickquestion Posted April 15, 2017 Author Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) I am very unbiased. I am not afraid to admit that my parents are biased bigots. Now if 97% of the folks in Facebook are rude to me and disrespect me continuously, and I say, modern society sucks, somebody will call that a fallacy because they know a small portion of people in modern society are ok. It's like all I am doing is pointing out trends...if I point out a trend that rap music is associated with urban culture, that isn't a fallacy, and it doesn't make it a fallacy just because a couple of people in the ghetto listen to Classical.
