Heterogenic Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Our DNA converts photosynthesis powered plant material into electricity after eating food, we can scale this process up by creating unconscious DNA power plants fueled by organic material ultimately powered by the suns fusion Magnetically contained nuclear fusion appears to be impossible, gravitational containment of nuclear fusion is likely required
Daecon Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 And how, exactly, do you propose "gravitational containment of nuclear fusion" would work?
Strange Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Our DNA converts photosynthesis powered plant material into electricity after eating food, we can scale this process up by creating unconscious DNA power plants fueled by organic material ultimately powered by the suns fusion DNA has no direct role in photosynthesis. There are already attempts to use artificial photosynthesis for power generation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_photosynthesis https://www.sciencealert.com/artificial-photosynthesis-could-power-homes-in-a-few-years-say-australian-researchers And variations: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/turning-energy-plants-produce-usable-electricity-180955110/ And how, exactly, do you propose "gravitational containment of nuclear fusion" would work? I think it was a cryptic reference to the sun.
Bender Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Photosynthesis is less efficient than conventional photovoltaic panels, so why bother? Moreover, our bodies are quite inefficient in converting organic material into energy, so you'd loose even more. In short: no, if the machines take over, they won't farm our energy matrix-style.
Strange Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Photosynthesis is less efficient than conventional photovoltaic panels, so why bother? I guess it might be a more efficient way of generating fuels (rather than electricity).
