Mapping the "Flatland"

G'day all,

I am wondering about the concept of a four dimentional shape. I understand the concept of the "differences" between a two and three dimentional shape, however applying the same knowledge to a four or n-dimentional shape is quite frustrating.

I have seen plenty of pictures of four dimentional shapes, and read a multitude of different papers, however I still havent found anyone who has a detailed knowledge upon mapping four dimentional points.

Maybe it has something to do with topology or matrixs?

Anyone out there that can help me?

In 2D there are 2 orthoganal (at 90 degrees) axes, in 3D there are 3, and in 4D there are four.

That's all there is to it.

eg. A Hypercube, (4D cube), has cubes as faces much in the same way that a cube has squares, and a square has lines.

As to mapping them, all you need is 4 coordinates.

(2,3,4,1) is a 4d cartesian coordinate.
