firestarnt Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I have a glass of water with a PH of 7. I put a Plant in the water and mashed the Plant up. The PH of the water is now 6. What is the PH of the Plant? Is there a formula I can use to calculate the change?
John Cuthber Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 A plant doesn't have a meaningful pH. Some bits of the plant will have a different pH to other bits. Incidentally it's pH not PH The sap of the plant is likely to be fairly well buffered https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffer_solution So the pH of the extract is probably fairly near the average pH of the plant tissues. Why do you ask?
Electrical Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 From your case, it is obvious that adding plant has changed the pH of the solution and overall pH is now 6. The pH of most plants ranges between 6-7 means slightly acidic in nature. Meanwhile, the basic formula for calculating pH is: Don't know what exactly will be implemented in your case.
