a better way:

in dilute sulfuric acid:

H2SO4+NH4NO3-->NH4HSO4+HNO3

 

in concentrated sulfuric acid:

H2SO4+NH4NO3-->NH4HSO4+N2O5

in the latter, the gas evolved is very, very dangerous

its interesting how concentration of the acid effects the outcome, i rememebr on this forum someone explaining this, but how does the conc. of the acid effect wether the product is bisulfate or sulfate?

Well there would be more "sulfatei ion" around to make a bisulfate, why when theres not enough there is only the "sulfate". Youd think it would be mixed though.
