Guest Shervin Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Yer i got this off the teacher on what the test is on ... can anyone help me finish it? Introduction: The speed of reaction is called the reaction rate. The speed of reaction (reaction rate) between magnesium and hydrochloric acid can depend on several factors, some of which include: *The Size of the magnesium pieces *The concentration of acid and *The Temperature of the Acid In your prac. test, you will be designing an experiment to investigate the effect one of these factores on theh reaction rate between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. The Task: Your task will be to design and carry out an experiment for a given factor(one of the above) which changes the reaction rate. For the given experiment, the following aspects will need to be written up in an experimental report: *Aim (2) *Hypothesis(2) *Constant, Dependant, and Independant Variables(5) *Select Materials and Equipment from a given list (2) *Method - instructions, equipment list, quantity of materials, and diagram(5) *Results/Observations(5) *Conclusion(2) *Coment on hypothesis (eg. is it correct) Evaluation of Experimental Plan(4) *Clean up and Packing away of equipment(3) Someone please help me !!!!!! and btw the exam is tomorrow
5614 Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 This is what you need to do: Aim: What are you trying to do? What factors will you compare? Hypothesis: What you think will happen and why. Constant etc: What are you going to vary (that will be mentioned in your aim) and what will you keep constant (ie. to keep it a fair test you can't have varying concentration acid if you are testing the effect of temperature because it will effect the results) Materials: This will depend on what you are testing. Method: Again it depends on what you are doing, you'll basically do the experiment and then change the thing you are varying and do it again, you do this a few times and you can compare the difference it makes. Results/Observations: This is what you see... what it shows you, the results table and graphs. Conclusion: This basically analyses the graphs, what did it show, why did it do this, what does it prove? Coment on hypothesis (eg. is it correct): Simple senetence, were you right when you guessed what would happen? Evaluation of Experimental Plan: Was it good? How well could you keep the constants constant (ie. if you were keeping temperature the same, could you really control sunlight and heating in the building? If you are using different concentration acids, did you use a new beaker each time? Because old acid or water could effect the result.) *Clean up and Packing away of equipment(3) Is that what you wanted?
