flyboy Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 would it be possible to make a real working lightsaber? i think maybe plasma could be manipulated by a magnetic field for the beam. put somthin in if u hav any ideas
Callipygous Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 what ATM said. ^^ while eventually we may be able to find a way to project SOMETHING in an arc like that it wont be something that will hold its shape and cut through anything except another lightsaber.
calbiterol Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 A much better possibility would be modifying a sword to have a "powersword" (I 'borrowed' that term from games workshop) that you can turn on/off but that permanantly has a blade. But it still wouldn't be anything like a lightsaber. And don't even ask about it deflecting bullets.
Tommio Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 The idea that you could have a device that could redirect photons of light, if that is what a lightsaber is, fit in your hand is pretty far out there. And as far as i'm aware of few photons can't slice through metal.
