dimreepr Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 No idea if this is the right section to post in... Anywho... Can anyone please tell me whats the difference between iron oxide & charcoal? Many thanks Iron oxide is rust and charcoal is carbon. Are you asking about the amount of carbon in steel?
pikachuvoodoo Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Iron oxide is rust and charcoal is carbon. Are you asking about the amount of carbon in steel? Oh okay, wondering what was better to use as a natural makeup (least toxic)
NimrodTheGoat Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Oh okay, wondering what was better to use as a natural makeup (least toxic) Makeup? Like the thing you smear on your face or is this something else.
pikachuvoodoo Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Makeup? Like the thing you smear on your face or is this something else. Lol, yeah the stuff you put on your face - lots of natural and organic makeup companies use CI 77499 (IRON OXIDE) or activated charcoal. I wanted to know the difference and which was safer for around eyes =)
NimrodTheGoat Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) Oh I found this, maybe it will help. http://www.empowher.com/cosmetics/content/making-your-own-mascara-bad-idea and http://www.skinstore.com/blog/skincare/beauty-glossary-iron-oxides/ From what I have searched it seems that iron oxide seems to be safer than activated charcoal. But you can reduce all of your risks to 0% if you don't wear any makeup. I am certain your face is fair without any harsh chemicals on them. Edited July 5, 2017 by NimrodTheGoat
John Cuthber Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 You can get food grade iron oxide and food grade charcoal, so I don't think using them as makeup pigments is a problem. There are alternatives which are pretty spectacularly bad ideas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kohl_(cosmetics)#Health_concerns
Fuzzwood Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Lmao so ridiculous! I hate food companies + I bet they don't list all the pesticides theyre marinated in either! Which part of all-natural blueberries didn't you understand? Edited July 6, 2017 by Fuzzwood
hypervalent_iodine Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 ! Moderator Note Let's stick to the topic of the OP.
StringJunky Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Lmao so ridiculous! I hate food companies + I bet they don't list all the pesticides theyre marinated in either! Everything is made of chemicals and the point of that list was to show you all the chemicals that make up a real blueberry. if you get food grade quality of either powder you should be ok. I think they are pretty stable and inert-ish chemicals for your use. Skin drying might be the main issue with one or both though.
hypervalent_iodine Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 ! Moderator Note Could you kindly all get back on topic. If you want to continue this tangent, do so elsewhere.Edit: on second thought, I've moved all of the off topic posts to the trash. Please open a new thread if you want to discuss that line further.
