I used to like these when I was at school.  I am not going to do it...  but in ALL cases with these I would advise drawing the triangles out as described...  you can then look for equivalent angles etc...  or whatever tricks you know...  but it is MUCH easier once drawn out.

It is probably based on the concept of similarity of triangles.

Actually I am struggling to see an easy solution - I am pretty sure that with enough leg work I could manage a complex very involved answer; but these sorts of questions tend to resolve to a few lines of proof.  Just cannot see it yet - maybe I have missed something obvious

this question can be solved using advanced concepts of mathematics. but i have not learnt them yet
