How do I change my avatar/what is the permitted size?

I can't determine how to change my avatar and what size photo I should use. What are the dimensions? XxY?

Is there a post minimum?

This is how I determine the size of an acceptable avatar, brute force method:

1. screenshot of a post with an avatar/userpic.
2. Paste into MS graphics program
3. Determine the size displayed on the screen, the X x Y dimensions I requested.
then
4. create an avatar with THOSE SPECIFIC dimensions.

On the upper left, where the blank picture icon is, there is a link to change it. It should be fairly intuitive from there, or you may have to play with it a bit. We've recently upgraded software so nobody is an expert yet.

I've changed the other part, the cover photo on my profile. My pic was too big, but it let me center it and use a portion of it, which was good.

Thank you guys very much! you should consider posting a pinned topic or a guide when you make a profile telling you that you need to do this, because it confused me at first!

It is not a difficult task. Just upload an image then it will be matched automatically.

I'm unable to load an avatar as well.  I didn't see a link to allow one to be uploaded on your profile or mine?
