YT2095 Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 and you felt it necesary to try and re-word swansont`s post in #23 because? as he said, it depends on the context! and although it mightn`t have been the best choice of words, in context, the point is that FTL is possible WITHOUT the requirement of "tachyon" thingies
ydoaPs Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 what i am trying to say is though you can beat light from point A to point B, you aren't going faster than light.
YT2095 Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I wouldn`t have worded it like that, but effectively YES you`ll never beat C there from A to B, not ever. but Light speed you can THAT`s what I`ve been trying to say all along, hence I said in post #5 that I`m not sure if Air at STP would be dense enough to slow it down over such a short distance!
5614 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Agreed YT... I mean, you could walk faster than light in this http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn340 scenario... but you can never exceed c.
