A friend of mine brought this up in conversation and I want to find some educated answers, so where better to come?

I was wondering if there have ever been any acctual attempts or theories for halting space and time in a contolled area?

However under current models it's possible to slow down space-time signficantly by travelling very close to the stopping point.

Doesn't help you with what?

I haven't heard any great theories come from you yet, so dont be so critical when someone gives you their comments or opinions.

How would you do that?

I've read about using magnetic fields and slowing down laser patterns or something like that on physicsweb.org
